Riggers

Ok, so themajority of you may not get this, sorry...

But for those that do,

I just listened to a rigger with 20+ years of experience explain to a new LX apprentice how DMX works.

I think you need more context. I looked it up and it is about lighting. I was expecting something about crane lifting. It could also apply to mountain climbing and repelling. Let's not leave out sailing ships.

You are correct in that almost no one will get it.

As an ETCP certified rigger who started his career as an LD, I do not get the joke either.

You also left out riggers on off-shore oil platforms
which is what I thought it was going to be about. Lighting riggers would have been my second choice.

As near as I can tell,

DMX is a multiplexed system that can drive/address multiple rigs of lights over a single cable (or even WiFi), which saves on stacks of cables having to be run to individual lights.

LX is a prebuilt lighting bar with multiple connectors for individual lights.

I don't see what is funny?
