I'm sure most of you have seen the satirical TV series Reno 911. And if you haven't, in essence, it's a show following a bunch of "cops" around Reno, NV that are less than competent in their jobs. Very funny show, but now they are going to have some competition.

www.foxnews.com...

I get it, not all cops are going to have the proper training to deal with someone in mental distress, but seriously? Do they not realize how stupid this is going to be?

"Those mental health professionals will have police backup available to them, but SPD officers would only approach if needed" By the time they realize that police backup is needed, 99% of the time, it will be far too late.

This "genius" idea also comes form a woman, who, just 3 years ago was behind the original vote to defund the Seattle PD. Now, she wants heir backup. How ironic.... Even later that year after going after the police, she needed their help. Would have been a shame if they didn't respond right away.

Anyone who thinks that sending in a social worker to do the job of a police officer probably needs some mental help themselves. The amount of lives, professional and civilian, that this initiative is going to put at risk is going to be astronomical.

Calling to defund the police, then in the same breathe asking for their backup in situations these social workers shouldn't be in in the first place is, in my opinion, the epitome of comedy.

I was just reading about that.

"Well, you know, usually I’m complaining about how delayed we are and how frustrated I am that we’re not meeting our benchmarks for developing this program. But today I’m really, really happy to report that the city is hiring for the six positions for its first pilot alternate response team. It’s going to be a way for 911 operators to dispatch calls to somebody other than police, somebody other than fire, a crisis responder who is unarmed," said Herbold.

Sending a unarmed social worker up against a mentally ill person who is either violent or becomes violent when confronted.

I think they are going to have 6 job openings very soon.

Seattle has gone from one of the most beautiful cities in the country to a God forsaken s..thole.

This isn’t just bad for the social worker’s safety, but for any collateral people in the area, not to mention the well-being of the person in crisis.

The whole system in King county is an ever loving mess. I got caught up in it during the “Summer of Love” and was falsely arrested, jailed and spent better than 2 years proving my obvious innocence due to the original Soros backed prosecutor.

Antifa nuts we’re trying to burn the jail I got to sit in as an innocent citizen of this once great nation.

It's just another bureaucrat trying to make a name for themselves that is going to blow up in their face and cause needless loss of life.

They are just going to keep shoving it down the pisser the longer they let this keep going.

I do realize they are, more than likely, beyond saving but somethin is better than nothing in their case.

My condolences for your false imprisonment.

Shame that those that are truly innocent are held forever until they can prove, "without a doubt", that they are not guilty. But, those that are constantly in and out of the system for anything from petty theft to armed robbery and murder, are always back on the streets the same day to go and do more damage to the city those politicians are "trying to save".

The frightening thing is, while held in King County for 3 days(!) I was surrounded by mentally Ill characters. Many were entirely victims of their own minds, going through withdrawal, not in control of their emotions…some were stone cold killers, unabashedly talking about what they would do when they got out.

I am a physically capable man, but there were a couple of men in my cell (18ish bunks) that I wouldn’t want to face down if they were losing it in my worst nightmare. One fellow was basically Mike Tyson with a knife.

Once you are put in that "holding" cell, you don't matter to them unless you were to get injured, or worse die, on their clock.

They have no Fs to give about anything that happens to you as long as you can stand trial for the "crime" you committed.

Reno 9-1-1 was funny.

The situation in Seattle and Portland isn't funny, and won't be funny...ever. It's flipping infuriating and disgusting!

Agreed, on both accounts.

They are putting their own selfish needs before everyone else. They want to be see as the hero that "don't need no cop" and when they get in trouble who is going to be the first person they call?

If it wasn't for the beautiful landscapes on the west coast, I would say we could just push it off into the see and be done with it for good.

Things like this make me very happy. For Seattle, I feel they need to dump 80% of the police force and hire alternate response teams i.e. social justice warriors, and then the rest of us can pop some popcorn, sit back, and watch the show.

The problem is we need it all to go down in flames as they are the ones creating it all. It's like they sh!t in their own bed and expect it to be all good. Outside of Seattle, the whole damn state is super red and we will just enjoy the show as we do watching Portland also crumple under their form of society.

Ive been youtubing arrest videos, mostly drunk and disorderly young people.

It's amazing how they ALL handle the encounter by being combative with the police and lecturing the police on how the police are breaking the laws and violating their rights. I watch them accelerate their behavior as the cops try to reason with them. Until, ultimately, the police are forced to take control of the encounter harshly, when they should have established such at the very beginnine. The new methods are making it worse in my view. And waste alot of the cops time.

This is because the new training methods require cops to handle the crazies with more patience and understanding. And it's a DISASTER. Especially with the women. Young males seem to understand a little better that the cops will NOT let you control the encounter, and to do what the cop says, but not the young women today. I swear, you could NOT pay me enough. I'd get thrown in the clink myself, because I'd sock one of those disgusting pieces of social engineering crap into the middle of next week.

They always end up begging, please please please, or let me call my mommy or my daddy!

It's always someone else fault, isn't it? According to those on the wrong side of the law

Accountability is something that none of these people understand or can comprehend.

Simple, if you F around, you're going to find out.

Woman looks like a dude.

I especially liked this paragraph:

Ironically, in Dec. 2020, she called the police to her home after a man reportedly threw a rock through her living room window; a crime for which, under proposed legislation, the suspect would potentially avoid criminal charges if caught.

What a hypocrite! Though not in the least surprising.

I would be curious to know if the cops even show up to help the social worker. I seriously doubt they would, or they'd only just escort the Ambulance in to retrieve the body.

It is almost comical the audacity that people like this have, right?

If it were me in the blues getting that call, I would probably have my lunch break to go on at that point....

The girls just try every which way to gain control over the encounter, like they have done for their whole lives with mommy and particularly daddy.

First it's can I have my phone? Please, let me have my phone, they are in cuffs, but clearly going thru phone withdrawal. And they run the routine down just like at home. FIrst ask, then beg, then beg louder, then start screaming at the top of their lungs, then beg some more, then start thrashing around. I watched one negotiate with the cop for a last hit on her vape before she went into the squad car. She's in cuffs. The cops have found her vape. She wants a hit. First she begs, then she screams, and finally the cop says, ok, you can have a hit on the vape if you promise to get in the car (acting like Daddy instead of a cop). Cop actually holds the vape up to her mouth and pushes the button for her.,

The vape turned out empty. She wailed like a banshee.... I laughed my butt off. Bet the cop tells that story and laughs again and again.

Seattle breaks my heart.
Such a juxtaposition…..It’s so naturally beautiful, yet humans have made it one of the ugliest place on earth.

I have seen the transformation of Seattle for almost 50years. I only lived there for a few, but always had family there, so I have visited many times over the decades. To see the decay is heart wrenching.

What also strikes me, and isn’t talked about. There are rich pockets of Seattle that go untouched, as if the crackheads and homeless know exactly where not to cross the line.. isn’t that funny…

It's quite comical isn't it?

Took a weekend trip to the lake a month or so ago and the sister in laws phone got dropped in the lake. (nobody's fault, just pure accident) She absolutely lost her mind and took off barefoot down a gravel road for a mile or so before we found her in the fetal position bawling like a toddler.

It is amazing at how dependent on technology the younger generations have become.
