It might be intelligent animals with dodgy mating habits.

But I just love squid!

Fried or grilled, rings or heads, these tentacles are squeezing my heart.

How long till it's extinct?

In the meantime ,,, oh yummy!

I am not fond of squid or octapus. I have had them four or five times and I ate it but would rather have fish. I also don't think lobster is worth the price, I would just as soon have a boiled bullhead as lobster and I definitely would rather have other fish than a bullhead.

Some people love squid, maybe they had better recipies, I had it in restaurants over the years...maybe homemade is better. I like shrimp occasionally, and I don't mind boiled crab legs with butter, but not squid. I also am not fond of shark and some other bigger ocean fish.
Lots of people I know like seafood I don't care for...which is all right. I have had caviar a few times, one time it was some expensive stuff, I won't eat that again, I eat chicken eggs not fish eggs.

When you're dragged to the steakhouse, and you're not having cow - I'd like some tender calamari rings.

With some tartar sauce please.

Oh you savage!

To my knowledge squid is some of the most sustainable seafood to be harvested.
I'm an abalone diver of over 20 years, and that's been shut down where I am.
Eastern American and European Lobster are also very sustainable from what I read.

I'm more of a stream or lake fisherman, than ocean to keep up on what is sustainable for ocean harvest.

There are some good youtube channels that go into ocean harvesting and what is sustainable.

I will say I miss my crayfish (crawdad) river dives when I used to go recreational rafting (over 20 years ago), but times moved on.

There is life in the water to feed you, if you prefer that to life on land. There is quite a lot we can do to cut down our grocery budget, if we have the permits and the talents to use it.
(hyperbole: My kids never eat anything I cook so it's moot for me regardless).

No, whatever you do, don't cut it into strips.
Don't sell it as a "steak" either.

Not nice.

It's a specific delicacy.

May it stay that way.
