Working hard on my preps for the inevitable SHTF descending on our planet. I got some Ivermectin via some place in India and it did its job when my wife got the dose. They carry Azithromycin and Amoxycillin broad-spectrum antibiotics. Any idea which is better or do I get a few hundred of each? Anyone have any clues about this?

I wouldn't waste your money. Antibiotics will expire fairly quickly, better to block into other options like reishi mushrooms and other natural types. Less effective, sure, but when they expire you can always get or grow more

I got bad side effects from Azithromycin , so have you tryed it before ? The problem with Azithromycin is also that if the side effects are really bad, that drug stays in in system long time, up to 14- 15 days from last dose. I would never ever take it again .

I have Fura-Zone, nitrofurizone topical soluable dressing I purchased at my local farm and ranch supply. It's sold in a 1 pound tub.

I have read exactly that, antibiotics expire quickly #1, and more than likely the ones coming from India aren't exactly fresh #2. Have also heard preppers vacuum sealing small batches and store in a cool dry place? don't know if that works though.

Regardless if you are prepping that intently, don't forget natural options too. As I said I am a complete novice and I'm not a prepper, but I do read bout the topic, and I've had to use alternative options as some pharmaceutical antibiotics can give me bad side effects as well as become less effective the more you take.

ie if you are prepping make sure it works for you and has low side effects before you buy in bulk.

GENERALLY, though Amoxycillin is gonna be the best bet.

I agree on the natural options too, but just like with pharmaceuticals find which ones you can tolerate and which ones you can't. Garlic, black seed oil, oregano oil, turmeric, ginger, and ACV all seem to help me as preventatives.

Large quantities of vitamin C will take care of most things.

Since I started using it, it's been almost 2 years since I've even had a cold.

Get to know mullien and yarrow. Both grow all over, both are antibiotics. I also keep amoxicillin, which I purchase at the feed store. Tractor supply will ship. Fishmox,

A whole field of study to survival is plant identification for edible and medicinal uses. One of the best cough syrups for sore throats and minor colds is apple cider vinegar, honey and paprika. Robitussin makes a version with some of their chemicals added as well.

You can make various tinctures, balms and essential oils while herbs are in season to get you through the year.

Apparently Honey can be a good substitute for broad-spectrum antibiotics.

"Honey exhibits a broad-spectrum of antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria, including antibiotic-resistant (MRSA) ones."

Keeps for a hell of a lot longer also which may be desirable under any sort of SHTF scenario.

I would get a few hundred each. Don’t forget Cipro an anti fungal, and perhaps tamiflu. Double bag the drugs and keep them in the freezer, they will keep for years. The same for analgesics and most pain relievers.
Print all of the info you can find on the drugs and store it in a safe place. Some day a doctor my not be available.

Honey never spoils. It does eventually dehydrate into sugar crystals if improperly exported to air.

I think they found some from ancient Egypt still preserved, a couple of thousand years old, deemed still to be edible.

Topical antibiotics in a tube are great to obtain. The other internally ingested are not so good really. They simply just breed super bugs to counter those antibiotics. The topical ones are in a petroleum based gel that will soothe and stop the pain as well as speed up the healing process. Bandages for small cuts should be worn to speed the healing on the hands but is not so important to apply in other places. The hands touch things constantly and get new debris and germs introduced to the wound much more.

Fascinating, and so was the Mastodon herd found flash frozen (what does that?) with the food they had eaten was preserved and the meat on the bones was edible. They fed some to dogs I recall. I also recall someone was wanting to cross the DNA from one with an Elephant. That is a bad idea. Those were fierce animals much larger than our Elephants.

Aye some kind of Jurassic park scenario is probably a bad idea even with the likes of Mastodon or Mammoth.

As there may well have been a good reason nature saw fit send them the same way as the dinosaur.

That being said as fierce as they may have been they don't seem to have faired to well against Humans given the spear points found in the bodies.

Mix this up...

Ingredients:
3 cups of apple cider vinegar
According to Authority Nutrition, apple cider vinegar cures many types of bacteria. Vinegar has traditionally been used as a disinfectant, treating ear infections, nail fungus, warts, and lice. Apple cider vinegar was even used thousands of years ago by Hippocrates for wound cleaning.

When it comes to food preservation studies show that apple cider vinegar inhibits bacteria, such as E. coli, from growing.

1/4 cup of chopped garlic
According to The World’s Healthiest Foods, garlic has heart-protecting benefits, due to their production of hydrogen sulfide gas. This helps blood vessels expand and keeps blood pressure regulated.

1/4 cup of chopped onion
Onions help improve immunity with their phytochemicals and vitamin C.

2 fresh chili peppers
Chili peppers contain the antioxidants vitamin C and carotenoids, which can also help improve the regulation of insulin.

1/4 cup of grated ginger
Gingerol, the primary bioactive compound in ginger, is responsible a lot of its medicinal properties. Gingerol has powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

2 teaspoons of grated horseradish
Various health benefits of horseradish are largely attributed to its density in nutrients and minerals. These include dietary fiber, folate, vitamin-C, calcium, zinc, potassium, magnesium, and manganese.

2 teaspoons of turmeric
Curcumin is the primary active ingredient in turmeric. Curcumin has very powerful anti-inflammatory effects, as well as strong antioxidant properties.

3 teaspoons of honey
Honey is an anti-bacterial and an anti-fungal.

I had made a thread about common herbs and spices that contain organic compounds with antiviral effects and backed it up with peer reviewed research. Many of those also have antibacterial and antifungal properties. Oil of Oregano is a one that has strong antibacterial properties. If you go this route, look for the Oil of Oregano that is already diluted with a carrier oil and meant for human consumption. Do not put undiluted essential oils on the skin or consume them.

Here is a PDF of a research review done by the spice company McCormick. It is old and there is a lot of new research on this.
Oregano Overview of the Literature on Health Benefit

If anyone is interested, I can make a thread by pulling up all of the new research into herbs and spices with antibacterial properties to give credence to the salves and tinctures used in traditional medicine.

That does look like it has the right stuff in it to have some antibacterial effect.
