The biggest factor is that advancing technology has made and will continue to make useless eaters. People like to talk about how technology will give them a future of not having to work while the government gives out a UBI. Well, that won't happen. No one with money wants to pay for the unneeded former working class to live a carefree life of fulltime leisure.
