Being A New Widow

This coming New Year's Day will mark my second week of being a widow.
I have been very busy with final details,dealing with MANY phone calls,
family in and out.Everyone has gone back home now and I'm finally alone
to collect my thoughts and unwind.

I have noticed that I talk to my cat more and sometimes to myself.I have
gone into my husband's rooms and see where his furniture and stuff used
to be.I had an offer on my house and I accepted it and will be moving soon.
I will probably be offline for some time soon until I get established in another
state.

It has been a wild ride and a busy one as well.I want to thank you all for the
prayers and kind messages.I wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR,love,mama

I am so sorry for you losses, Mama. We'll all be waiting here to welcome you back. I really wish I could offer more than just prayers from afar. This kind of thing really demands more, like an actual shoulder and an offer of help to get you moved and settled. If you were coming to my area, you'd have it.

I will give you some clues for you to figure out where
mama is going.
1.My Volvo has duct tape on the driver's mirror and will fit
in to my new state.
2.I have some missing teeth.
3.My moving there may even raise the state's IQ points some.
4.Good old boys with pickup trucks and possibly a still squirreled
away somewhere.
5.John Denver sang a song about the state MANY years ago.

Sounds like you'd fit in well here in canada, lol. Other than John Denver, though my dad was his number one fan and went fishing with him in northern canada when they were at the same fishing lodge by fluke. Dad was thrilled to put it lightly. The first thing my dad did when we moved to canada was get a leather jacket, cowboy boots, a guitar, a john denver song book and learned to play the chords. Some of the songs stuck with me as being the essence of north america, finding beauty despite sadness, the little joys and sense of community that are infinitely more rewarding than dwelling on the hardships. Rambling, sorry.

My heart sinks every time I hear of someone on ats losing a partner or going through one of life's inevitable tragedies but I know, should it happen to me, I'd actually feel safe sharing on here and know the love is real despite not knowing others in person.

I've totally become drawn to your posts and think aw Mamabeth, what she up to now? and always appreciate your wisdom and kindness. You've been through so much and held your own. It's inspirational but not surprising if you need down time, alone time, never mind the amount of time it would take to pack up a house and move. I shudder at the thought, being a bit of a hoarder of furniture. Anyhow, I hope your move goes smoothly and look forward to hearing about it in time.

I know. We had a patient name come through. She lived there, and between her name (which I cannot repeat for HIPAA reasons) and where she lived, I had a picture of the perfect, stout, mountain granny on her cabin porch with her shotgun. It was a like a fully fledged fictional character stepping right out into reality.

It was just too perfect.

You seem like you would fit into that person's neighborhood.

(And truthfully, there are places in Missouri that would fit your description.)
