"No right time" is partially right. It's a larger truism of course.

yeah we gave them everything needed to win but only after making them dependent on us to keep supply lines opern, with our logistical capabilities gone they could no longer get food or supplies with their own forces.

Getting out of Afghanistan is long overdue.


But how you leave / exit is a whole different issue and this administration has shamed our nation with incompetency.

Here's a reminder that nation-building just doesn't work when you have to bust in using your military.

There was NO war in Afghanistan to win. We were there to occupy it, period.

If you call "losing a war" strolling into a country with your military, taking over their government, setting one up under our control, training them, and basically eating Whoppers for 20 years while we ensure opium exports and test our new weapons, ok.

I don't consider that a lost war.

I consider that an utter failure on the neo-con idea that we can nation build.

We're not in it to destroy the enemy anymore. The world is too small for that now.

We're in it to profit from them.

Perhaps if we posted more you tube videos of songs on ATS we could get to the bottom of this issue and solve it once and for all.

Hell, it would be more effort than the current administration put into it.

The Soviets didn't 'lose". Instead they learned the way of the afghans, they realised that "going away" and let the enemy fall down on its own, and then come back is the way to do things. It make take some years but eventually, the enemy falls down on their knees, they they come back and regain control. As we clearly can see now
