Recipe:

4 short ribs 1.5-2" cut
- salt and pepper and let rest to room temp
1 yellow onion chunky chopped
5 cloves garlic chunky chopped
1 tsp fresh thyme
1.5 cup cabernet
2 cup beef stock
3 tbsp tomato paste
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp oil
Heat oil and butter to almost smoke point. Sear all sides of ribs for 45 sec. Set aside.

Add onion and garlic to pan and turn heat down. Heat onion to translucent and scrape pan (about 10 min). Add red wine and scrape. Add beef stock. Bring to boil.

Place ribs in slow cooker and pour pan sauce over. Set on low for 7 hours or high for 4.

We got a bunch of shortribs from the half cow we just got. I usually just boil them and put them on the grill with a little BBQ sauce. I boil them with onions, garlic, and a little celery and some seasonings/ I skim the juice, strain it, and refrigerate it till any oils harden and scrape them off then use it as broth to make soups.

But this recipe looks good. I have six packages of them.

Ok, Vasa, you teased us but have not come back with how they turned out yet.... We need to be tortured with a detailed review of how they came out.

WE just finished off our oxtail stew with dumplings....well, actually the dumplings are made from Bisquick.

Don't you snitch? Snitching is the best part of cooking. After the stuffed Turkey or chicken has cooked for a couple of hours, I open the roaster and the wife turns into a vulture targeting the stuffing that is nice and crispy sticking out of the bird butt. I just grab the liver from the front of the roaster pan in the juice.
