Netflix is facing criminal prosecution over the controversial French film 'Cuties,' after a Texas grand jury indicted the entertainment streaming service for lewd depiction of children.

It accuses Netflix of knowingly promoting visual material that depicts "lewd exhibition" of the genitals or pubic area of a clothed or partially clothed child who was under 18

a boycott campaign to cancel subscriptions wiped out $8 billion of the firm's market value as a publicly traded company in two days

Netflix is being charged with violating child pornography laws for its hosting and showing of the movie "Cuties". Cuties is a movie about 11 year old girls "twerking", or dancing in sexually suggestive ways. Apparently there are many scenes in the movie in which there are long, up-close shots of the girls' very-scantily-clad genital areas, and depictions of the girls taking and sending sexually-explicit photographs of themselves. The content of the movie was apparently so blatantly sexual that people across the world were left outraged that the movie even existed. Now, Netflix is being charged with violating child pornography laws for the content of the movie.
Here's the thing about pornography: You can technically have images of nude persons, even children, without it being considered pornography. What makes something be considered pornography if is the person in the image or video is being depicted in a sexual manner. By all accounts, the 11 year old girls in this movie are most certainly being depicted in openly sexual manners.
I think Netflix really *ed up by hosting this movie.

I haven't seen it myself, and don't plan to.

All the liberal media and apologists defending this netflix movie have told me everything I need to know about it.

Just ask yourself if you need to make a movie where you burn puppies alive to show people why burning puppies alive is so morally wrong and abhorrent and you know why Cuties is a bad thing that should not exist.

I lot of the critics and so-called elite are trying to defend it as art or a movie with a message against child exploitation. I've even seen some commentators try to defend it by saying only conservatives who like Trump get outraged by it or some other such nonsense. The point is that they exist and rather more of them than I am comfortable with because they all seem to have big voices on the national stage which means they have power.

I don't see the suit succeeding. It's not a film that interests me but from what I've seen it's no worse than some of these disturbing beauty pageants with five year old girls done up in outfits that my local stripper would wear.

So if netflix gets found guilty in this matter, does that open up a possibility of people who viewed this garbage also being charged with a crime?
Or is it just fine to watch CP as long as its on a "reputable" channel/service?

I didn't watch it but saw the trailer due to all the controversy-and theres little doubt that this was all about underaged kids acting in a sexual manner. The trailer basically sold it as such.

You have to ask who was the target audience-If it was kids, that is pretty atrocious IMO.
If it was adults, possibly even moreso.

Or was it just a plan to generate controversy,in a "no publicity is bad publicity" kind of way?

Whatever it was-it was a bad move bby netflix IMO.

The Cuties controversy is the latest in a line of recent anti-pedophilia campaigns that have stemmed from the corners of the internet where extreme conspiracy theorists—including QAnon and Pizzagate believers—like to hang out

readysteadycut.com...

Most of the time it’s pointless trying to argue with anyone on the internet, much less trolls and conspiracy theorists and the other standard types who immediately gravitated towards the controversy as though it was an arrow in the all-seeing eye of heathen Hollywood.

www.techquila.co.in...

According to Freud, when a human is born they develop their sexual organs first. During the ages of 3-7 years, there is the Oedipus Complex where the son feels sexually attracted towards their mother and during the age of 7-11 years, the latency period stays during which there is creative and cognitive development of a being. As soon as a person reaches the age of 11 they start getting their sexual urges and exploration wants back, as the genital development stage begins.

STREAM IT! Other than the controversies that surrounded the film due to Netflix’s campaigning the film, it has a lot to say in fewer words. You need to have an open mind to understand that what they are showing isn’t something exactly offensive but basic human urges and psychology. Cuties is a search for one’s own self and a bit more (hyper-sexuality, mainly) of everything that sums that age up!
All in all, Cuties is a film worth watching and one controversy should not deter you from that!

I haven't and won't watch it either but if the message was truly to point out exploitation, why didn't they cover or blur the images? They could have made their point without showing anything. Alfred Hitchcock scared millions of people without showing any gore.

It's a lost art in filmmaking these days in all areas. Instead of letting people's imaginations do the work for them like they used to have to, today's film makers seem to think they have to show it all in all its gory detail. They forget that sometimes what you don't show is far more impressive than what you do.

For example, a Jaws reboot with a massive shark explicitly shown from the very beginning would be far less scary and suspenseful than the original, but if they rebooted it, that's no less than what I would expect -- a massive and flawless CGI shark all the way from the start.

The "Its as bad but not worse than..." crowd need to stfu. I've had to skim past youtubers showing clips of the film during review because of repulsion. It's worse.

I watched Cuties, almost to the end. It was so boring. I didn't think it any more offensive than Dance Moms, which was on TV for 8 seasons.

America is finally starting to win, people!

This list is long but the dominoes are starting to fall.
