Black Line in Banner?

I was wondering whats the cause of the black line in the banner?

Is it a sign of respect as it looks purposely embossed?

I guess im not the only one thats seeing it. SO probably put it there for a reason though... don't know what, but it makes the banner look a little cooler.

I was wondering that myself. Looks like one of those mourning bands people wear.

Maybe the board has been hacked and that is an attempt at deleting the banner?

BTW my Superman #75 is still bagged with its black armband and trading cards and souvenir 'Daily Planet' edition. That was fun merchandising when Superman died.
