I edited my post at the same time as you were typing this, in principle YES but as I say it would harm the site and it would not really be ATS any longer, not as we know it but just another closed group session that would lose lurker's - unless they were allowed free access?.

You get a gold Boarder around your avatar or in the “Registered” Area have something like Gold supporter.

You have a noble intention but I think it won't be enough or it wouldn't work.

To rescue ATS we need some serious jornalism on each forum and well edited videos with interviews and investigations.

Some members could form 2 or 3 people teams.

We need to become a source and stop depending of media.

Veritas, AJ and others did that. Why not ATS?

A brilliant idea and similar to The Nexus mod site for game mod's, originally that site began with no advert's, it now has advert's, it began with only one game as a break away from another mod site and that game was Morrowind and because of it's better user interface it soon topped the Morrowind modding scene as the site of choice, they have had to put up with legal threat's over content modders put in and take down mod's to save there site but have gone from a completely non monetary site into a real gold mine, three tier membership with free as the basic, supporter and premium and also advertising revenue.

It is not the same as this but in theory it would work, and it has made the founder of that site a real packet of money, he also expanded it to include as many dedicated sub sites for other games as possible so for him the money is pouring in.

Like I say though not the same kind of thing but it is proof of concept and it work's very well for them.
