Great birds except when nesting ... then you need a helmet to get around near them, because they swoop (dive bomb ) you !

It looks funny seeing kids riding their bikes, helmets on, with a dozen or so cable ties sticking out !

Ahaha! Funny!

You are lucky to be able to see these beautiful birds. Ever made friends with any?

Yes, we had a family of them come around daily. They would warble and sing to get our attention right at our door, we would then give them some treats. Smart and lovely birds! ( unless nesting ).

Kookaburras are cool too !

Question is, are they Magpies or Piking Shrikes.

Most Aussies can't tell the difference.

It is also difficult because Piking Shrikes are a subset of Magpies but it gets a bit wobbly in naming conventions after that.

If you feed them, they will adopt you. They love to play!

Do you mean ' Piping Shrikes ' ?

I think I am dealing with Magpies, their song would be a determining factor as well as some visible difference.

Cheers mate !

Ed: In NSW we call the Piping Shrike ' Pee Wee's '. They are much smaller than a Magpie.

I had to look up shrikes. One impales its food. Yuck! LOL

I would love any bird that would adopt me.

I was too slow getting my phone, just missed getting a pic of a Tawny Frogmouth.

There was also a possum in the yard earlier. ( our possums are not at all like their US namesakes.
Look up "brush tailed possum".

We have also had ring tailed possums come to visit.

Crikey !!

Wow, they are adorable! They even come in different colors.

These are adorable too, but...but...they eat their own poo.

I had a wonderful visit with my best friend Diane today. She brought over food from a good restaurant down the street and we ate on the porch. She even bought me flowers. So sweet and thoughtful. We talked the hours away and laughed. I really needed that.

Good sci-fi movie room 3 in the Shed Castle Theatre.
Enjoy!

That just sounds lovely Night...believe it or not we are still in lockdown. I’m so looking forward to going out to eat.

I’ve become somewhat addicted to fresh flowers...was never that way before, such a nice gift!

We could have actually gone to the restaurant, but I have some procedures on my legs coming up in June and it's hard for me to walk. So we ate on the porch and it was a lovely day. We really enjoyed it.

It's so good to see you Scully!

Do you have a garden? I used to pick fresh flowers all the time from my Mom's garden when she was alive. I'm always in too much pain with my back and legs to do much now and lazy. LOL I remember having a potted garden on the porch, different levels of plant stands and lush beautiful herbs and flowers. I wish I would have taken pics back then. It was just amazing. Hugs!
