It isn't speculative. There is strong circumstantial evidence. There are the hacking tools left behind on the drives. There are the logs of when files were written to the drives. There was even a connection log of an IP address traced back to Russia. And the data retrieved was released to the public by people with links to Russian hackers.

The article and the Faux News report didn't say such. The testimony several times refers to the tools and remnants left on the drives and that there was a packet of information prepped for transfer on 22 April. It says it quite clearly and a number of times.

As far as the IP address goes, it was ThreatConnect who identified the IP: 176.31.112.10, the same one used in the previous German Bundestag breach by the Russians, as the 'Command and Control' server. Of course, the Crowdstrike testimony would only refer to their own findings, and so the testimony made no direct reference to the IP address.

However, in regard to what many here are suggesting, on Pages 60-62 of the transcript, CrowdStrike clearly identified that the article alleging that the hack was not from Russia because of data transmission speeds, was itself, "not plausible'.
