It’s not just that people are dying, it’s the way they are dying. Drowning in their own thick mucus.
Sure we can shrug and say, well this is no different to seasonal flu, I did initially until I did a little more research. Seasonal flu, most of of us have some immunity to it, but a novel Coronavirus, crossing over from animals, no one really does. Sure, in most cases, mild symptoms are exhibited, but in the elderly, whose immune system is weak, the results are catastrophic in many cases. There are drugs available to combat the immune system issue, but the respiratory issues are another thing entirely.
Self isolate as much as you can, don’t be a carrier and pass it on to someone too weak to be infected by this.
Yes, it is a nasty bugger. It basically gives you pneumonia. However, the vast majority of the deaths are old and infirm people. People who already are at risk of death from flu / pneumonia under even the best circumstances.
Flu kills tens of thousands a year in US most of whom are also elderly. So again, how is this substantially different?

New York state has roughly 45% of all coronavirus cases in the country!
www.worldometers.info...
It would be interesting to see the ethnic breakdown of these numbers.
Seems like the virus is stronger in places where are more democrat voters, isn't it.
I was thinking more in terms of European and Asian immigrants. I believe New York state has more of them than any other state in the country.

I would think that California would have a much larger Asian population than New York, both in terms of per capita and actual numbers.
Yet, in terms of total number of deaths, California lags far behind.

For perspective:
Before corona, there was a death in NYC once every 9.1 minutes
So now instead of 6 death per hour it’s 7 deaths.

But hey let’s destroy the world for 2,000,000 people in the United States. Infant mortality is 2.1 million a year.
6 months from now you'll look back at your post and realize how small those numbers really are.
Car accidents kill 90 people a day in the USA...
Covid is already passing that...
No it’s not.
~90 People die from auto accidents per day in the states...
49 documented deaths from covid yesterday alone.
What numbers are you looking at?
Because by Monday CV19 will overtake auto accidents by a long shot.... Sadly...

By next week, it will be more dangerous to walk in public than you drive your car.

It's just sad that some members on here will have to bury relatives before they know that it is reality...
