Notorious Colombo crime underboss John 'Sonny' Franzese Sr - who financed the 70s porn movie 'Deep Throat' - dies at the age of 103

Franzese passed away due to natural causes on February 20 in a nursing home in upstate New York with one of his daughters by his side, according to TMZ.

The once-feared mobster, who was born in Napes, Italy and moved to New York as a young boy, spent over eight decades of his life working with the notorious crime family.

In his downtime the crime boss hung out at the legendary Copacabana night club, rubbed shoulders with stars like Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr, and even claimed to have a fling with Marilyn Monroe.

Franzese had interests in restaurants, clubs, record labels and even dabbled in the movie business where he helped finance the 1972 pornographic movie Deep Throat and helped finance the 1974 horror film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

His son is Michael Franzese ---who was was/is tied to Hollywood:

They glided through hotel lobbies, slapped palms, snapped their fingers and traded outdated, ultrahip handshakes with their clients, all of whom were black. "We're the real deal!" they proclaimed. Vilified by rival agents, banned from campuses by some coaches and scrutinized by the FBI, they reveled in the controversy.

Walters and Bloom were accused of dealing with a reputed organized-crime figure, cheating one athlete out of his signing bonus and threatening wayward clients. If convicted, each faces a total of 70 years in prison, $2 million in fines and forfeiture of their sports business.

The charges against Walters and Bloom had been expected for months. The surprise came when the government also alleged that, in 1984, imprisoned organized-crime figure Michael Franzese, 37, had supplied $50,000 in seed money to the newly formed sports-agent business at Walters's request.

Sports illustrated reported more than a year ago thatWalters, a successful booking agent for music acts and a former Manhattan nightclub owner, has known Franzese since his childhood. Franzese told SI in June 1987 that "Uncle Norby," as he knew Walters, socialized with the Franzese family, vacationed with them and worked with him on several business deals.

Lloyd Bloom was found dead in his Malibu home in 1993:

Ralph Cindrich, a Pittsburgh-based sports agent, said he felt “no surprise at all” in learning of Bloom’s death. “Keep in mind the known Mafia people (linked to Bloom’s activities) and the number of people done wrong,” Cindrich said.

Bloom, 34, was found dead Thursday in his rented home on a bluff overlooking the Pacific in the high-priced Broad Beach section of Malibu. He had multiple gunshot wounds in his upper torso, and there were no signs of a break-in or a struggle, said Lt. Joe Brown, commander of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s homicide squad.

He also paid Bahamian police officers to quash reports, shared women with local politicians and groomed victims to recruit “fresh meat,” the lawsuit says. Through a spokesman, Mr. Nygard denied the allegations.

This isn’t the first time that Mr. Nygard, whose company sells women’s clothes at his own outlets and Dillard’s department stores, has been accused of sexual misconduct. Over the past four decades, nine women in Canada and California have sued him or reported him to the authorities. He has never been convicted.

You can get a good idea of the drift of the narrative from its chapter titles: 1963, Race, Sex, War, Debt, Diversity, Winners, and Losers.

So, what do you make about Q's "Silent War" comment? Does Bob Iger has skeletons we should know about?

I tend to think of Disney as the Evil Mouse. They're on the list of companies I'd love to see broken up by an anti-trust action.

For sure! That makes total sense to me! People aren't often sharing their phones around the place. Besides, nearly everyone has one(or more) and some folks are quite protective of them too

However, the Phone Soap can blast other things clean too! What about cash money? Arguably the dirtiest, most widely handled item in existence. You can pop it in the tray just like you would your phone. Your keys and other small things too.
There's also a larger one, the Home Soap IIRC, that can fit much more. Maybe you get something online shipped to you - maybe it even comes from China!! - blast it with that UV! (Of course if it is from China and/or you're particularly concerned, take the necessary precautions and wear gloves and mask!)
