Evening ATS Colleagues and apologies for the click-bait-alike subject line but bear with me.

We were just discussing another festive period being over and how there were Valentine cards and Easter Eggs already available in the first week of January. This led to the computerisation of any celebratory period (yes I'm getting old
)

My mind wandered off to other things and I decided to look up a page I'd not looked at in way too long.

The upshot of this is I came across a video that I'd not seem from Jimbo Loony before that hit the subject title directly on the head.

Short and sweet but given its Roddy Piper in They LIve I thought what better place to share than on here.

Enjoy.

FYI for those not in the UK, the video on the billboard is a Department Store Christmas advert.

John Lewis iirc.

To me, the reason we have christmas is to get together and feast as a family. I was brainwashed years ago but my eyes opened and I now still celebrate Christmas but buying crap that someone does not need is off the table. Sure, you get a present and use it often at first to justify the money spent on it...but shortly it gets put aside and never used again only to be sold in a rummage sale for a a few bucks. Or, like many people, they just keep it in the house and clutter their houses and eventually it gets ruined and thrown away.

It isn't only Christmas, they have brainwashed people that we need something, like a cordless drill/screwgun, and then you find you are doing things you never would have done before just to justify your purchase. Cordless tools have stimulated the economy a lot, because they just put things together, things you probably do not need in the first place. I made a living with tools, but I provided a service and needed these tools. Now if I need a ccordless drill/screwgun four times a year, it is about all I use it. I often just grab the regular drill or use a screwdriver, but most importantly, I am not buying stuff to make things I do not really need now. I make cat coffins for the pets, that is about all I do with all my tools. I use the air compressor and some hand tools, but I already have so much junk, I can't even put my car in the garage. Just like people buying a self propelled lawnmower to cut the grass on their lawn, the lawn is the size of a living room sometimes, but they have a self propelled bagger mower. It takes way longer to mow with that most times than to get a nice light manual push lawnmower....but people want something that looks impressive.

I think we all understand Christmas and commercialism now days
Don’t think anyone even hides it anymore

And for the most part, Christmas, new year, a few holidays at the end of the year, what’s not to like?
Think some tomes we overreact to things, I don’t spend much on gifts and i don’t get complaints
