So thanks to a fortitutous turn of events. I'm getting ready to cough up a lung and buy/build a new pc.

I'm bouncing back and forth between a 9900k/z390 and Ryzen3900/570 build.

I want to max out my memory as much as I can so I don't get stuck like I have on this Asus P45 q9500 intel board that's maxed out @ 16gb.

I know it's old which is why it's way past time to upgrade.

Asus Maximum Hero/Code/ Formula or Asus Crosshair VIII ??

I like the Cross hair having max gb at 128 gb.

I'm not exactly a power user anymore, but I'd want to start messing around with Blender and other such programs.

Which would you go for and why?

Ryzen ... mainly I suport competition

If you like watercooling and overclocking go intel otherwise the gap in proformance is minimal

Ryzen still benefits from watercooling just not overclocking so much

Ryzen , you will not be disappointed.
If possible , go all the way with a Threadripper.
AMD auto overclocks when needed. No user intervention required.
Set memory profile in uEFI to get the true classified memory speed.
Couple that with an Nvidia RTX , or if on a budget a good 1080Ti .
The best of both worlds,

Sit back and enjoy.
I do.

Went with the I5-9600k with the Deepcool Captain 240EX Liquid cooler with MSI Z390 Tomahawk, now I only went with 16gb of CORSAIR Vengeance RGB PRO 3200mhz because all I do is stream and game basically with a Geforece GTX 1070 SC2 for graphics once I found a good deal and the prices went down.. Depends on what you want to start doing but you can always add as you go.. this is why I recommend building your own. I'm not a fan boy and have had multiple AMD platforms in the past. It really is all about what you have to spend and what you need it for.

Plus I like a bit of flash, went with the Corsair Graphite Series 780T Full Tower case.. Looks good and runs cool as a kitten. With that said it is hard to decide I must have put 20 days of adding and deleting items in my carts from Amazon and newegg.. Look for the deals!

I wanted another Coolermaster haf evo case.

But it's not an option with upgrade front usb 3.1. Unless I'm mistaken.

Leaning towards another coolermaster Master case h500m mid tower.

Unless I've read wrong a 360 AIO should fit underneath the top.

Ryzen , more cores and threads plus AMD are spanking Intel with their new CPUs , I picked up a 2700x a few months ago and it's a beast.

I've found when water cooling a 240 would be completely fine, depending on the ambient temp of the room. I use to build my own loops with XSPC RX240 Radiator V3, thing is thick and a monster.

I'll have to agree with gortex, it was a tough choice but AMD over the past 2 years have really stepped up the game.

Every self contained cpu cooler I've had has amd and intel mounts, so I'm going to say yes.

$350 Bestbuy

$380 New egg.

Asus Cross hair viii Hero wi-fi.

$1,130 for Motherboard and Processor.. That I don't have a problem with.

As crucial as those two things are for any given system.

That leaves memory speed and amount.

It's a toss up between G Skill and Corsair.

Cheapest,fastest memory speed ?

Never had a problem with timings on either, went with corsair because I've never had one problem with a corsair product.. My power supply 750 modular, ram, case, keyboard and mouse, heck I even have the long mouse pad that covers almost half my desk from them. Had the g-skill snipers in the past, still in my moms computer I built her. Went AMD on hers

I'm guessing for price to point (since I haven't looked in a bit) G-skill will be cheaper. Still has the performance.

Thinks I've narrowed it down for a ryzen system.

Ryzen 3950x $750
Asus Cross hair VIII $380
64 Gb of G Skill DDR 4 Trident Z Neo @ 3600 2 32gb @ $160=$320
Corsair 150i 360 AIO. $180
Samsung Evo 970 evo 500 gb @ 2 $ 200
Coolermaster 1000w PSU. $280
Windows 10 Pro $200

And I'll pick a 1080ti off ebay they look cheap enough @ $550
Recyle my data drives.

$2,860 Total.

Not a bad build at all! I'll trade ya once ya build it
Nothing like a build to occupy your time and near
Christmas you can always say it was a present to yourself :p
