This is getting way to ridiculous . A finger gun? A 7th grade girl was arrested and dragged out of school in handcuffs for pointing her finger.

Let that sink in . actually arrested . Thats not to far from them arresting people for the OK symbol in public. Or having a hateful bowl haircut.

Or saying illegal alien .

This has got to stop. I understand that we have had some school shootings and people are on edge about it but it is still just a damm finger.

No bullets no boom, just a 12 year old girls finger.

Just wow..

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — An Overland Park middler schooler was arrested last month after she pointed a finger gun at other students. The student, a 12-year-old at Westridge Middle School, was arrested by Overland Park police on Sept. 18. Dave Smith, spokesperson for the Shawnee Mission School District, would only comment on the matter by email saying, "I want to be very clear: The arrest of this student was wholly unrelated to any district policy," said Dave Smith, a spokesperson for the Shawnee Mission School District. "It was a municipal police department decision, and our policies don't impact police department decisions,"

Weak

And

Gutless

Hopefully the arresting officer is being ridiculed by his peers. Actually , I hope he’s being relentlessly bullied by them until he has a breakdown and quits his job as a nervous wreck.

There is no excuse for his actions.

Pointing a finger.

How pathetic

Well: was her finger-gun properly registered ?

She's probably still a bit too young to own and operate a finger-gun responsibly.

Squirt guns and laser guns are fine for the kiddies though. No problemo.

If this has happened in Kansas (though Overland Park is really closer to Missouri than the rest of Kansas; so maybe it's Missouri's problem), then we are screwed. If this crap has spread into Kansas, then there are no reasonable people left.

I'd say yes, there is a point. Personally I'd be so confused at the situation if i saw it but really i feel like there is a need to stay focused and combat this in the moment.

Essentially i don't want to be shocked and watch something stupid unfold without at least trying to reason with the idiots.

I hope the parents get a good lawyer. This is where the state should be forced to pay up enough to fully fund a great education for the kid at a private school.

Actually and functionally, there are TWO States of Kansas: Johnson County, of which Overland Park is a part, and the whole rest of the state. It would be a mistake to see this event as having to do with the State of Kansas.

I’m am gonna go ahead and call this being a fake story..

A) so in conservative @$$ Kansas, you had not just one professional adult make a crazy decision.. you had ATLEAST 4-5..

You have the teacher, principal, officer and I’m betting at least a couple more people..

B) I remember the last one of these that went viral..

“Kid arrested for image of gun on his tshirt!!”

In reality he was asked to remove/reverse his POLITICAL shirt because it was school policy. Then he assaulted the school resource officer AND WAS ARRESTED FIR THE ASSAULT!!

didn’t stop every conservative on ATS from buying it..

Some people will believe anything.

He was arrested for threatening another student.. not the finger gun..

He made a finger gun sign with the threat and the clickbaiting began.

Would the kid have been accused of terrorism, if they had told the other kid to pull their finger instead, then became a casualty of the ensuing explosion

It seems the middle finger is becoming more acceptable then the ok or gun pointing.

Not sure about Kansas law but in most states before a police officer can talk to a (minor)student the parents Have to be present.
