Well I suppose it's time new Zealand had a civil war. We would be more than happy to sell both sides more guns to accomplish the mission. Just give us the word, and you shall be receiving weapons shipments from Croatia, Cyprus, chech republic, Romania, etc...

The only government entity with enough manpower to do this is the military, and we would never comply with such an order. It would not be a lawful order and we have no duty to follow unlawful orders. Get informed.

Considering I spent 13 years in, I'm pretty confident I know how the majority of us feel about gun confiscation. And I know for sure it wouldn't be a lawful order and that we're not dutybound to follow unlawful orders. Thanks for playing.

ETA: FYI for the uninformed, the military doesn't swear an oath to the President or Congress, we swear an oath to support and defend the Constitution against foreign and domestic enemies. Anyone who tried to order us to disarm the population would become a domestic enemy. You'd get a civil war, and it wouldn't be pretty for the the gun-ban crowd. It would be a lot shorter than the last one too.

I don't doubt your experience in the military, however let's use your logic for a second, I have spent 30 years living in Australia does that mean I know how all Australians think and would act?

I always get a kick out of leftists using the military as a political weapon.

I got out of the Army in 2016.

I have yet to meet anyone in the US Army that would go on a confiscation campaign.

Maybe in in 50 years if we're complacent about our rights. But not today.

I, like most modern veterans, received an immersive education in insurgent tactics.

Stay in your lane.

Yeah because that's the same thing at all. Even comparing it to the US general population doesn't work because it's not a homogeneous culture. The military is a homogeneous culture. We all share certain values, with very few exceptions and those people tend to not last long in the service.

Ya'll who think this really have not thought it out well. What would happen is the military would split, with the majority siding with the citizenry against the small portion that stayed loyal to what would then be an unconstitutional government. Civil war. With most of the military on the gun-rights side.

If there is a need the military can force you back in, is that right, I thought the military was like hotel California, you can check out anytime but you can never leave?

That's one city during a catastrophe. We're talking about a nationwide effort. The military would never comply. It's unlawful and unconstitutional. Trust me, we know how it feels to be disarmed. We're already not allowed to defend ourselves on base.
