LOL ITS YOUR ARTICLE YOU POSTED LAST PARAGRAPH JAN 16TH 2019 THIS YEAR...
www.maritime-executive.com... f-of-guinea-led-the-world-for-piracy-in-2018
I apologize for sounding like an azz its really not why I've been on ATS all these years its about learning other viewpoints and hopefully expanding my horizons, cause none of us is 100 percent right so its better to have an open mind. Not my intention to be antagonistic, have read most of your articles and posts about this to understand where other people are.
OK, I see it now. The article was about piracy in 2018 but was obviously updated recently.
It doesn't actually say that there was no piracy. The live map shows that there is still some and the reduction began back before Trump.
The history shows that there were 237 incidents in 2011 and zero in 2015. Then as outlined in the articles, there were 3 attacks in 2017, which seemed at the time to be a resurgence (and, as one of them was an oil tanker, rather than a fishing boat, was fairly sensational).
On further reading, it appears that in 2015 the Chinese naval facility in Obock, Djibouti began escorting commercial Chinese cargo ships and that was coincident with an absence of piracy.
There was also a 33 nation international task force (CTF-150) established and operated out of the US Navy base in Manama, Bahrain.
Between 2014-2017 the following CTF-150 ships had interdictions (which were all drug related and not piracy) HMAS Arunta, USS Laboon, HMAS Darwin, HMS Somerset, HMAS Darwin, HMS Defender, the Surcouf and HMS Monmouth.
So, I really don't think America can take all the credit.

Pff, there's worse stuff happening in Iraq and SA. Will you pay for it with taxes and life?
Had China bought one or two tankers to screw US sanctions and keep Iran selling the first-deal-minimum - that would actually stabilize the situation.
And it would be very funny

'We now know that Saddam Hussein has resumed his efforts to acquire nuclear weapons...Simply stated, there is no doubt that that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction. There is no doubt that he is amassing them to use against our friends, against our allies, and against us.''
Speaking in August 2002, Vice-President Dick Cheney was trying to justify a new war, one that would turn out to be unpopular, costly, and deadly. Let's look more closely at Dick Cheney and his role in the Iraq War.

What period are you talking about - and can you word this a bit clearer?

A U.S. Army colonel working for the CIA was sent to Persia in September 1953 to work with General Teymur Bakhtiar, who was appointed military governor of Tehran in December 1953 and immediately began to assemble the nucleus of a new intelligence organization. The U.S. Army colonel worked closely with Bakhtīār and his subordinates, commanding the new intelligence organization and training its members in basic intelligence techniques, such as surveillance and interrogation methods, the use of intelligence networks, and organizational security. This organization was the first modern, effective intelligence service to operate in Persia. Its main achievement occurred in September 1954, when it discovered and destroyed a large communist Tudeh Party network that had been established in the Persian armed forces[9][10]
you, an Australian, want a world body that is mostly socialist, if not full blown communist except for a few nations, should rule the U.S... You, as an Australian, don't even have the right to choose whom your Prime Minister will be... Perhaps you should focus on your rights first before claiming other countries should be prosecuted for your historical revisionism...
However, we have yet to kill millions of people for an ideology.
