Observations and interpretations from several lawyers only, so far nothing has been made public from within the bill itself that would directly infringe on the President ability to declare a national emergency. Although my personal view is that declaring that in itself is dangerous as this will be used as an excuse to severely limit presidential powers in the future.

Update-
The signing of this bill will in effect stop the declaration of a national emergency as the President is agreeing to funding and would more than likely lead to any legal challenge presented by the democratic party to win.

Democrats attempted to insert a TRAP similar that on Tuesday. Don't tell me it wasn't stripped out.

He's getting part of his money, although not enough to fulfill the promise that helped get him elected.
Maybe he can ask Mexico again, he's cultivated a good relationship with them, correct?

I'm not sure this is a good precedent to set.
He declares an emergency now, for something that must have been an emergency before now?

At least he learned that government shutdowns are not good for popularity.

Pelosi truly is the gift that keeps on giving. That statement is going to be a nightmare for the Dems in 2020. Trump and the NRA are going to have a field day running ads on that.

She is just pointing out the ramifications of using Presidential rights frivolously. If Trump can do it for the wall, why can't another President do it for guns, healthcare or whatever hot button issue that Congress refuses to pass that is in vogue at that time? I realize some of you may have imagined there is actually an emergency and that is ok, because it will allow the Dems to do it on an imaginary emergency also.

If Obama had done this, then the Trump crowd would have been railing against it harder than anything to date. Trumpsters don't get respect because of inconsistencies like this. They know they aren't being honest with themselves but it is ok, because it helps the cause to support it. At least until the next guy tries to do it and then they have short memories of their prior beliefs. It really is no way to govern. Look what happened when the German people hooked on to these type of false ideals.

By the way Obama administration deported more illegals than any President in history, but then again you just don't want to believe the facts, only that the other side is bad.

Also, hate to be the one to point this out but walls also keep things in. So all those here illegally are not going to have an easy time sneaking out of the country. No one mentions that.

Trump's EO declaring a National Emergency will be upheld by the conservative Supreme Court.

A 2025 Democrat President declaring one related to climate change, or gun violence, will be shot down by the same conservative Supreme Court. (It will be even more conservative by then.)

True. But Illegal Aliens broke the law the moment they touched U.S. soil. The goal is to prevent that. Not to "catch and release" them after they are here.

The dems have more-than ensured that there won’t be a democrat president for the foreseeable future so, there’s that.
