What's the common denominator in every shooting?

Oh yeah... the gun.

Yeah yeah I know.... everyone's entitled to have one if they want.

There's another "common denominator" in every shooting, sweetie.

A shooter.

I keep saying it: WTF is going on in Florida?

It's like it's the proving ground for a new Manchurian-Candidate program.

Stupid people.

But I guess you can't notice the smell when you're already saturated by it.

And:
    - Disregard for the sanctity for human life

    - Disregard for murder laws

    - Disregard for assault laws

    - Disregard for weapons laws

    - Mental issues (no sane person murders/shoots up places like that)

    - A person or people hell-bent on causing destruction of life, regardless of anything in their way

Those are a few off the top of my head. Gun-free zones are also the location of most mass-shootings, whether posted by the establishment or forced by law.

You know what's not present at most mass shootings? Well-armed individuals who prefer to and are willing to fight against these people, including police officers and legally armed citizenry (at least not in a timely enough manner to minimize or stop the damage).

The difference is that the latter points are easily reconciled--it's impossible to control the issues in the list, especially from a legislative standpoint. But there are too many people too focused on the scary metal thing that goes boom instead of giving people the best chance that they have for self defense.

I'm not saying to forcibly arm all citizens, but I am saying that stopping those of us licensed and well trained to react/respond to such an encounter is not in the best interest of society.

arrest the gun. Lock it the F up. Problem solved. there are good guns and bad ones. Find all the bad one's and end this horrible trend. There, now I fit in with the mindset of the author of the post I replied to.

Police in South Daytona Florida are investigating after someone fired four bullets through the windows of the Volusia County Republican Headquarters, according to local ABC affiliate WFTV9
It’s a small strip center and no other business was vandalized, so it was obviously politically motivated.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

Four Shots Fired Into Florida GOP Headquarters

What's the common denominator in the recent firebombings then? The fire? Should be ban that?

No! Not yet. Hunting season is about to start. Friends and family are organizing for a trip to Grandpa's next weekend for target practice and BBQ and fun. Our guns are trained and very docile....they won't jump up and shoot anybody.

Except those are the ones that really matter, because it is the individual that does the damage--the tool is rather irrelevant in the end.

Honestly, I'd rather see firearms used than suicide vests, which is the norm in other places where firearms are banned altogether...or pipe bombs, or pressure cookers, or passenger jets, or bombs in vans, or myriad other things that happen that cause way more loss of life per event.

If you really think that the tool is what matters, you're lying to yourself.

Well, if the guns aren't black or don't have scary things like pistol grips and magazines that hold 11 or more rounds, you may be okay.

Incorrect. Some people are forbidden to possess a firearm, due to a felony or crime of violence conviction, mental illness, or not having reached the age of maturity. Most of the gun violence is perpetrated by those people. The vast, vast majority of lawful gun owners are law abiding.

What "reasonable restrictions" on lawful gun owners would result in a reduction in gun crime while not infringing upon the gun owners who have committed no crime?

how many times will we hear that, only to have the words ring empty. Another gun will jump up and kill. They do it without feeling, without empathy. And I'm not racist (some of my best friends are....) but the black one's are the worst.
The madness has to end.
