The Dutch Death Doctor at it again with his new invention the Sarco short for sarcophagus as stated in the article.

The pod is sealed and with the push of a button by the one inside it’s then pumped full of nitrogen, the “patient” will feel dizzy and pass out and die painlessly.

Costs $5000 per “treatment”
I think bender only payed a quarter in Futurama.

I’ll put my stance on the issue here as well. I am pro euthanasia for those whose quality of life is no longer worth living. Those with mental illness should seek help.

Your new avatar is disturbing. I had to look 3 times before I realised I wasn't looking at someone's butt cheeks.

On topic, euthanasia is legal under certain conditions in the Netherlands and does not cost 5000 dollar/euro/pounds.

It is rather discombobulating, kind of what i was going for.

Legality aside i wonder if you pay before hand or afterwards?

I mean what happens if you are not happy with the service?

How much does a bullet cost? You save 5 grand so that your family can pay for a funeral instead.

Whats wrong with a short walk off a height cliff in the dark?

That would be both free and environmentally friendly.

I've never understood the hangup people have with euthanasia. There are obvious times when someone should be given psychological/psychiatric help instead of ending their life (PTSD, depression, etc), but I fully support someone having the choice of how/when to die. If someone has a terminal illness and is in a lot of pain, and it's only going to go downhill from there, why not let them go out on their own terms?
I support it.

And if there is profit to be had, then, well, lets make hay whilst the sun shines eh?

The moral and sociological implications of devices such as these are beyond contempt really.

Somebody has to clean up the mess. That's what is wrong with it.

According to the article, it is intended to be made by a 3d printer. I'm guessing that is where the 5000 euro/dollar/pounds comes in along with the costs for a tank of liquid nitrogen. They will open source the plans, apparently. I find it personally a ridiculous idea but that is just my (now extremely discombobulated!) opinion.

I do as well. Not for mental illness, as you say, but for painful, untreatable terminal illnesses. Although we allegedly live in the 'land of the free', sometimes it doesn't seem all that free. This will happen though. Eventually.

Why not just drink the liquid nitrogen, that would do the job just fine.

Certainly an expensive way to depart this verse and rather ridiculous in the extreme.

I would want a open casket so I would shoot in my heart, I wouldn't want to put my family through even more then they have to. It would be bad for my family to identify me seeing my face, that would be even more crappyness on top of committing suicide.

I didn't say I agree with the cost, or the profit from it.

However, if someone decides on their own to use it, and pay for it, well, then I'm A-ok with it. That's their decision. There are obviously cheaper ways to the same result, but, if you want to go out with a bit more dignity/less of a mess, this is a great option for people.

Each to there own me thinks.

As to dignity, in the end, at the end, i dont imagine most people would be entertaining such thoughts having the rather pressing matter/possibility, of nonexistence to contend with.

But it takes all sorts i suppose.
