Why is it racist for the US to defend its border?

It isn't but our "friends" from the other side see it as a great injustice. Meanwhile it helps funnel in illegal immigrants like the one that killed Mollie Tibbetts. Course I'm sure he'll get a slap on the wrist and be out sooner than you can say illegal. The pope has a wall seems to do him ok, although he too comes over here to b!tch at us for wanting one. It's about security in my mind not racism but leave it to the msm and leftist numbnuts to try to make people that want border security look like scum.

No, what you are describing is profiling and is necessary. Last I checked white people were not suicide bombing, or hijacking airplanes, that is why middle eastern looking men should be profiled, and if it was white guys, or Asians, or anyone else doing a majority of a certain crime I would support profiling them as well. Unfortunately in the U.S. the left doesn't even want profiling to happen.

That's an interesting take, from across the pond.

We haven't really had a "free press" in the States for decades... although there have been some good journalists in the years gone by. The "oldies": Walter Cronkite, David Brinkley, Chet Huntley... they reported the news in a time when it was considered completely inappropriate to mix news and opinion together, and try to sell it as news.

Opinion pieces were presented with a splash screen, and labeled as opinion.

There's a reason you don't see that any more. It's ALL opinion now, and the memory of "hard news" has aged out of the American population.

Both Dems and Reps make BANK on illegal immigration.

It is also true that there's a terrible fracture in the body politic now, much of it fueled by a media that, if you look at the famed DNC e-mail messages, were actually in the big for Ms. Clinton, and openly communicated with her campaign on helping strategy.

The broadcasters of old would have never put up with such blatant partisan bulls**t.

So... THAT'S the framework the current discussion on immigration is happening in. It's a tsunami of partisan political bias and bull**it. Most of the country doesn't agree with it. But since the news is owned by corporations and Silicon Valley, they just do what they want, and screw Americans.

Makes BBC look like the most unbiased news outlet on earth in comparison... even though it isn't.

Other factors also cause US politicians, not all democrats to parrot the same "racist" meme, not because they actually believe it, (which they don't), they are just using it for political profit).

It’s not that the ideology of it is wrong. Every country should able to defend its borders. In my opinion people who are racist see it as top priority. No matter what we do illegals will still find a way to infiltrate. As for the illegals who are successful in their infiltration, what concerns U.S. citizens the most? Theres many aspects and not all are negative. Many claim a lack a jobs, which I highly doubt because most illegals work jobs most of us Americans would never consider, typically something in relation to agriculture. Which in my opinion is a huge asset to our country. Then you have cartel activities and illegals who want gain funds through illicit activities, you cannot deny they’re a problem. Truth be told even with the pressence of foreign gang operations, we have problems in this country that should be more of a concern than that of border protection. How about providing the necessary aid to our combat vets who suffer from mental and physical disabilities? Or ensuring that at least criminals are the only characters corrupting our communities if any, and not the law officers sworn to protect them? Yeah the borders ought to be defended at the end of the day, that’s not racist. But the racists love to find reasons to keep the Mexicans out, even if there are more dire problems at hand that threaten themselves and their own lives. Problems typically seeping out from their own government. It’s unpatriotic though to go against their government how could the racists ever do such. Even if it’s for the better for their own country. Much easier to target the illegals, which the government secretly favors in the “illegal” importation of drugs and firearms. It may not be the most practical option but if the person is racist it is. Not saying all who think high border security is a priority is racist, but a large pool of people do think that way. Just my opinion though. There’s just more dire problems at hand so one shouldn’t get caught up on the idea of a secure border, it’s basically a paradox and you’re just wasting energy trying to make it 100% effective.

Defending or governing/managing one's border isn't racist.

Defending or governing/managing one's border of black people or asian people or arabic people IS racist.

That's the key distinction. If someone were to say they are explicitly defending their borders from a certain race of people then it becomes racial issue as they are by default saying others can come in...but not these ones.

It's the same problem when people are called 'racist' for pointing out the massive issues in certain religions, like Islam. It isn't racists to point out its shortcomings or for making fun of it. Religion isn't a race, even if misinformed people try to make it so.

Same with with common sense when defending a nation's border. Unless you are 'defending' it from a certain group of people and not others.

I don't think it helped when Trump misspoke and said "they're all rapists" (when talking about the illegal Mexicans) as the media played on that to make it sound like Trump was a racist and linking it to the wall.

I just done a quick google search and apparently 39 countries have walls at their borders, including France, Greece, Spain, Northern Ireland and India! Also...
