Two days later, manager is fired because of the incident.

Fired by the owner of the business?

If that's the case then I am all for it.

If the owner had kicked the maga hat wearing guy out I would be all for that as well.

Business owners should have more say in what happens in there business.

Not in Canada.

Eventually, we will hear about cleaning fluid in someone's meal. Mark my words.

It used to be a cultural value that politics and religion stay out of the work place. Whatever happened to that?

Two words.

Identity politics.

Anyone who would support their political ideology by wearing clohing in support of said ideology is stupid?

I'm so glad you get to decide the difference between intellectual use of one's freedom of speech and who is stupid. I would have never realized that excercising my freedom of speech was stupid without your valuable input.

edit on 30-6-2018 by Isurrender73 because: (no reason given)

You can exercise your freedom of speech. That is your right and freedom.

I am free to think what someone is saying or showing me is crass or stupid.

Freedom of expression does not = Freedom con sequences.

You free to say or doing anything you like and I am free to think you are a idiot for doing that.

Business owners have the right to refuse service to whoever they want to.
Not sure how why this is a problem?

I also side with the business owner that refused to make a cake for a gay wedding.

Freedom is a wonderful thing.

Seem people only like freedom that benefits them.

I love the hypocrisy or being for gays being denied service but complaining when one of their group gets denied service!

Being libertarian in leaning I am with you. Everyone should be allowed to choose who is served at there business.

Though in this case it was not the restaurant managers position to deny service and as such he got fired by the owner.....also acceptable.

Depends on the protest. I

Plus a restaurant is hardly the place to protest......unless your protesting the restaurant.

Never said you should not be FREE to protest or wear what you want but I am FREE to think and call that person a idiot.

Dress code casual...with outdoor, patio dining.
Photos online of folks dining with hats, sunglasses, shorts, etc.

Looking at some of the photos I have bigger issues with other people's apparel.

My shirt with a picture of George Bush Sr. and the text "I should have pulled out" was glorious.

Not that was reported. Although wearing any hat while dining is poor form.

That's a holdover from feudal times.

The "problem" was:

THIS business OWNER had a pre-existing policy of NOT refusing service to customers based upon their political affiliation.

The MANAGER of the restaurant ignored that policy...due to his own personal political bias.

The manager's firing by the owner was warranted.

i own a restaurant. I've fired people for less.

As an LLC i don't need an actual reason to fire someone. Anything goes. It is up to my discretion.

I would have fired the guy too.

Sounds legit.

Bit harsh to ask him not to wear his hat though, don't you think?
