The border needs to be militarized, and that would be difficult to do state by state. I support States rights, but this is really too big to deal with it that way. We have drug trafficking big time, and I wonder if those who support Open Borders imagine that that too will subside if one just promotes anyone coming and going at will.

Your other option is to point out where in Article VIII of the US Constitution the states derive their authority when dealing with foreign governments and treaties.

Well, considering that there's no evidence that we have a time machine and sent these illegal immigrants back in time to Nazi Germany, I doubt that the straw-man issue of "concentration camps" matters.

Oh, I see, you meant detention facilities where parties linked with adults who chose to break federal law (or minors who broke federal law by their own actions) by entering the country illegally are held temporarily until due process can be completed are held?

That might be semantics to you and others using hyperbole to describe this situation, but to people paying attention, when you use language like "concentration camps," people tend to laugh at the absurdity.

the founders defeated peeps like you in order to be free and now you deny that freedom by failing to recognize they did not want the fed to dictate to them in this manner. otherwise they would have specifically said immigration instead of naturalization.

Well, and the swastika represents spirituality, good fortune, divinity, and other relatively pure and noble attributes, yet in contemporary times, it is now associated with racism, genocide, hatred, evil, ignorance, and many other negative connotations, all because of Hitler and the Third Reich's actions and beliefs.

The same holds true for "concentration camps:" Yes, technically and historically they are a general reference to places where people are detained for myriad reasons (like a camp...where concentrations of people are put), but because of the Holocaust and that pesky Third Reich's actions again, the contemporary definition of a concentration camp by nearly any person that you ask on the street would be described similarly as 'those places where Nazis forced the Jews to starve, work, and die.'

See, the only reason someone in modern times would use the term is to elicit an emotional response from people, and that is a childish tactic. See, I understand the psychology of word usage quite well, so pretending that you're innocently using the word because Merriam-Webster doesn't reference the Holocaust in its definition isn't fooling anyone.

I'm not being "so PC about things," I'm calling out blatant uses of words meant only to incite emotion and imply that the CBD are acting like Nazis, which is a tired line of claims that you can now find on almost every thread about this border issue.

They are detention centers, they have basically existed in one form or another since we've had immigration policies and laws against entering the country illegally, and they will remain detention centers.

It's okay to be wary about potential abuses of powers by government, but when they become absolutes in one's mind, that's not a good sign...especially when the absolutes are unverifiable predictions.

In a few decades automation will make many of their low wage low skill occupations worthless to the economy, and we will need unconditional basic income.
