Gun collector with ‘arsenal of deadly weapons’ arrested

This is a fine example of what the leftest have planned for the rest of us. Sending us to prison for 25 years or more for possessing your own property when they "illegalize" your property. Then they release statements on how crazy you must be for owning your property that they no longer approve of.

“These allegations are insane,” Joe Russo, 50, told the New York Daily News “He is a gun collector. His father was one too. He gave him the guns. It’s amazing what some people will come up with. He’s a hardworking man who has never been in trouble.

Officers with the New York Police Department’s 105th Precinct in Queens seized a table full of guns and an “enormous” amount of ammunition from an area man described by a neighbor as a collector.

Queens District Attorney Richard Brown announced Friday that Keith Harvey, 44, was arrested and charged with over 40 weapons violations, mostly for criminal possession. Following a search warrant of his home, authorities seized cash, 11 rifles, three shotguns, a Crosman air rifle, a crossbow, a “banana ammo clip containing 25 caliber rounds,” and some 13,000 rounds of ammunition.

“The defendant is accused of stockpiling an arsenal of deadly weapons in his home along with an enormous amount of ammunition,” Arranged in Queens Criminal Court, Harvey’s bail was set at $150,000 and he faces as much as 25 years behind bars if convicted.

Changing gun laws can make many of us criminals without us even knowing.

Besides, lethal force is only the right of the state.
Not even one automatic weapon there.

Folks should be worried by this statement:

“The defendant is accused of stockpiling an arsenal of deadly weapons in his home along with an enormous amount of ammunition,” Brown said. “Illegal firearms pose an extreme risk to the public and in Queens County creating your own warehouse of lethal shotguns and rifles will not be tolerated.”

Were any of the weapons illegal to own? That is not mentioned in his charge but as an afterthought.

There may be some omitted facts so I'll leave judgement open:

The charges against Harvey include 14 counts of possession of rifles or shotguns without a permit, 29 assorted criminal weapon possession charges and unlawful possession of pistol or revolver ammunition.

What kind of right needs government permission to exercise?
None.

Uh oh, I didn't get a religious permit and went to church.
I talked to my neighbor and didn't get a speech permit either.
I am soooo screwed.

This story takes the cake for pissing me off personally.
My poor brother lived there nearly all his life, no record but can't get a permit to own one of his late father's pistols.
I get to keep them all safely here in Virginia.

I know so many people with huge gun safes full of "deadly weapons". So now people with stockpiles and collectors are going to be convicted criminals and not be allowed to have them.. The left keeps saying "nobody is trying to take your guns" well BS..

It's not their fault per se.

I mean, if I were commissioner or chief/whatever, I'd obviously go after the soft targets.

Forget the gangs and dealers that have the same guns, obtained illegally, who give 'shoot on sight' orders to their buddies if certain cops start rolling through their territory.

I'm not familiar with laws in NY, however from my minimal knowledge, I do know they are very strict and possibly violating the 2nd.

Given the absence of statutes, I'm reserving judgement. It sounds like a load of BS>

Craziness. What's too many? How much ammo is too much? How many different types of each type can I collect without it being a huge "stash"..?

Now, I have to limit my (albeit small) collection of daily carries, display only's, hunting 3.06, shotguns, black powders etc, etc...whatever?

WTF!? Stockpiling at what amount makes me and a few millions of other legal owners, carriers and collectors suspect of nefarious intentions?
