If i see someone with a sculpted gym body I tend to laugh to myself.

All the hours wasted when life could have been enriched instead. I used to work out (was the 4th strongest high schooler in the state when i was a senior back in 1992 and played college football), and decided one day that the hours (literal hours a day) i spent in the gym was not returning quality of life for me.

If it were me, id compliment someone who is able to find that balance between health and life.

I'm with you on that to be fair, my 20 year old is a rugby player, front row forward, we laugh at gym-fit blokes, but still recognise the work they put in to get that shape.

If you spend good money on boots they will last decades. I would argue you should save up. It will save you cash in the long run.

It's ok to think other people, even the parts of other people, are beautiful or sexy.

It really is. You're literally wired that way.

Nothing you can do about it either except feel guilty about it, I guess.

But if you live in the online world it seems a weird place where compliments about appearance are objectifying?

Because they generally are. People really do think that the things they say to other people online aren't of any consequence.

We do live in these times.

I mailed a parcel yesterday at a postal center. The man in line in front of me was so pleasant and so kind that he stood out.

On may way home I was telling my mother about this amazingly pleasant guy when it hit me. When did being kind and pleasant become an oddity?

I know! It has become a thing that being just human and friendly is weird.

Of course its OK to think that, or anything else. Its the last bastion of true freedom, i hope.

Nonetheless, its something that has to be tempered with the perception of others. Friendly compliments can easily come across as flirtatious. And can be the source of angst.
