How did Google become the internet’s censor and master manipulator, blocking access to millions of websites?

GOOGLE, INC., ISN'T just the world's biggest purveyor of information; it is also the world's biggest censor.

The company maintains at least nine different blacklists that impact our lives, generally without input or authority from any outside advisory group, industry association or government agency. Google is not the only company suppressing content on the internet. Reddit has frequently been accused of banning postings on specific topics, and a recent report suggests that Facebook has been deleting conservative news stories from its newsfeed, a practice that might have a significant effect on public opinion – even on voting. Google, though, is currently the biggest bully on the block.

Google, years ago, blocked all shopping results for firearms on their site, and often return inconsistent results for gun-related searches.

Honestly, guns are just one of many things that Google Inc. controls. We've never had a say.

I'm sure they're plenty of websites devoted to DIY gunsmiths or if you want something like the "Anarchist's Cookbook" there is probably plenty of that available too, even if you need to get on the dark web.

Once that stuff really does disappear, you'll need to hook up with a local militia or radical meshnet network or trade thumb drives.

If you really want that information, there will be a way to get it until it becomes as illegal as kiddie porn. At that point you need to leave the computer screen and get busy.

I hear you, I have learned to strip a number of my collection for maintenence via video. Fortunately I can do all of my firearms in the dsrk I imagine, but its pretty lame of them to do this.

Are you responding to my comment on gunsmithing?

I have several older guns that I like to tweak, and YT is great for DIY.

I would not know where to go to get the kind of info that is so easy to follow.

I use YT for entertainment mostly, and also for step by step projects. That is about it.

As for the Anachist Cookbook, naw. That stuff will get you killed.
I have the 1943 edition of "The Chemistry of Powders & Explosives" by Tenny L. David on my shelf. Don't need much else.

Why hook up with a local militia? They will be coming to me for help.

Probably show them politely to the door, and tell them to have a nice day. From what I have seen of militia in the US, they are not the types I would find to be agreeable associates.

I have an old Mossberg 500 pump that I wanted to break all the way down for cleaning. I asked around and no one knew how. These are folks who have hunted all there lives, and some who own 500's!

So I went to YT and there was a great vid!

Now I show off to my pals when I break down their shotgun and show them how to fully maintain it.

Where firearm maintenance, customization, and whatnot are concerned Youtube has/had some very good content creators who did provide accurate information. I'm really hoping this doesn't include the channels that have field stripping and troubleshooting videos as I've found many of those to be very useful.

I did some more digging. Looks like YT is cracking down on commercial sales sites primarily. Meh. I don't buy firearms or accessories from YT anyway.

They are also going after " contraversial" vids like building silencers or full auto conversions. Meh again. If I want to quiet down a rifle I will pay 200 for the licence, and have a professional install it.

Dailymotion will start to gain some popularity, I suppose. That's where Rammstein's Pussy vid ended up anyway, so I don't see them turning down this.

Though I don't see Twitch straying too much further from it's gaming roots, it's already got enough of a user backlash over branching out & allowing, say, people streaming while painting artwork. Also, for the conspiracy-minded, it's an Amazon subsidiary. The NRA even has beef with them.
Think about those odds now. They could say no gun vids outright, and it wouldn't ding 'em one bit.

I hate hearing this. Vet ranch was already hit by censoring the animal surgeries. Lots of needy animals are goimg to suffer

The censoring/blocking/removal pertains to something illegal, not the false "ther comin fer yer gerns" crap the gun-freaks are hyperventilating over. If you think the illegal modding should be shown freely, then you also support showing people how to cook their illegal drugs. Riiiiight?
