So I've been watching adsb all day today due to red flag (sometimes you catch some cool stuff) and noticed that the Janets are going back and forth like crazy today. Are there workers that are there for the week and come home Fridays? Just seems a lot more traffic than usual from what I've seen. I think this is the 5th or 6th Janet I've seen since 2pm or so.

When the F-117 guys were operational they'd fly out to Tonopah on Monday, and back on Friday. From what I've heard, it caused several accidents, because all week they were flying at night, then on the weekend they were doing things with their family during the day, then back to nights on Monday. Ib would be surprised if they don't still do something similar with more recent programs.

Red Flag is kicking off as well. The players have been arriving all week, and this one is supposed to do a lot of things they don't normally, including GPS jamming. There might be people that operate out in the field for that going home too.

ahh yea I didn't think about civilian companies doing work like that for red flag. Funny thing, we were escorted (followed) by a Lockheed martin employee when we were watching weapons school graduation out by cedar pipeline.

I would imagine with all the hype I've seen for this one this week, they'd have crews out to check everything with a fine tooth comb. Some of the smaller Janet aircraft would be good for taking them out where they need to go.

Is it just the gps spoofing they are testing? heard its not a full out red flag, this it is only our closest allies.

dang, tracking another Janet now

The first one always seems to have the RAF and RAAF. But they're hyping this as the biggest one ever, and doing things that they don't normally. Supposedly it's going to be extremely strike heavy, and screw with GPS from over the range into Colorado.

Sucks there isn't some live chat with people that are out checking it out. I miss watching the planes take off from Nellis, would love to be out there giving reports to what is leaving out to the ranges.

Is this why Janet had an ad for employment opportunities for flight attendants?

I'll try to find the link, might have even been here that I saw it.

They might be changing the contract again. Any time there's a change you see hiring going on.

Ah, that would make sense. Off-hand, what clearance do you need for that, Q or more?

It doesn't matter to me, I'm long out of the service, and probably don't look very friendly in a dress. Just curious.

It's just a TS. Most of the time it's a quick turn and you're back out again in less than an hour. If you sit for any length of time, they have a crew rest area that is out of view of most of the ramp so you won't see much.

Thanks. Got a daughter out that way, she could do better there than the regional she's at now.

This one has several people from the base in it, so as soon as the list of players hits the base, it's up there.

I half jokingly thought about applying, but I don't want to live in Vegas or that area.

I've known several people that occasionally have had to go to Groom and Tonopah for brief periods. You won't hear anything from them for most of the week, then suddenly on the weekend they're in Vegas going drinking or something.

so most likely there are people that are there for the week.
Question, watching adsb now, seems everything in and out of vegas to the west went dead the last 10 mins. Any reason for that? I was trying to look up notams for the area for red flag but didn't see anything about launch times etc
