Government sanctioned and paid-for being an added bonus.

I wonder if they have to pay fringe benefits tax?

That being said, I wonder if you would have to pay extra for one to piss on a bed, or whether Trump would cover that too?

You had to go there...sheesh...can't we have our own home grown thread without you invoking Trump?

Well. the SS did have their "Joy Division".

In the good old days, soldiers/warriors, just raped and pillaged any woman/village they could find...if they were capable.

It was known as, the spoils of War.....

Probably a good stress relief as far back as ancient times.....Spartans, Romans, Persians....Not Athenians tho, they preferred boys.....

Perhaps the worry really is, with the increasing number of women in the Army and Navy etc, that the amount of hanky panky going on now is such a concern, that they have to introduce an alternative........They are all too busy shaggin, they haven't got time to fight??

Like many military wives, Brisbane, Australia, resident Jane was horrified to read Australian army Capt. Sally Williamson recommending prostitutes be sent to the front line to help “relieve stress” in serving troops.

qklnk.co...

OK I looked didn't popped up so here we go.
Good idea/bad idea?? I mean not since the days of Rome, did we have official camp followers, and I don't know how to put this delicately but, certain port of call , married or not service men will indulge, how ever like the saying goes, getting back to home port what happened in Vegas stays in Vegas, but taxpayer funded punnany?? Outside of imperial Japan, supplying sex slaves officially , I've never came across the practice, even ancient times.
But now that females can now serve over seas close to or actually on the front lines, many of whom have hubbies taking care of Jr, how would that sit with them, knowing that Sally might well be taken care of by Jack the gigolo.

Italian army in north Africa had official camp followers, as did the Japanese in China.

great idea, lets follow the Japanese on this. so all the Aussis need to do is kidnap local girls and force them to become prostitutes for the troops, just like the Japanese did. perhaps they can even "pay" them the same way, ie starvation ration quantity food, and not beating them too severely or killing them (unless of course the girls are not cooperative). sounds like a great idea.

all in all this is a very bad idea. it will lead to the break up of even more families. a wife (or husband) at home has every right to expect that their spouses stay loyal to them. if Australia is so concerned about this, then they should send the wives and family over to a safe location and rotate the troops through that area for regular R&R. or just frequently rotate the troops home.

if Australia is so concerned about this

Its not official Aust Military or Aust Govt doctrine - just a Captain's blog

www.whimn.com.au...

A defence spokesperson said Captain Williamson’s essay had been published in error and didn’t represent the department’s policies on workplace conduct. “The article was published on the Land Power Forum blog on 6 November 2017,” the spokesperson said. “It was removed on 15 November 2017 as it was not intended for the Land Power Forum and does not reflect Defence policy.

I know, men who want to cheat Will cheat. However this idea of sending relief would imo be encouragement, and tempt those would otherwise not have thought of taking a walk on the wild side.I feel it's unnecessary and just going to cause strife.

Maybe that's true, but in all my military life I've known about three personally who Sat on board ship, taking other sailor's duty days to avoid temptations..$50 to $100 bucks depending on port of call.

Is that due to them deciding they were tired of needing to see the medic for STDs? I have heard loads of stories from my hubby's early days in the Navy. He joined at 17 years of age, was extremely naive and excited. After a few years, he realized it wasn't worth the risk and loss of $$$.

I wonder if it would cut down medical costs and be healthier for them to use a 'medical verified' consort? Honestly, if my hubby was still in service, I think I would rather he not consort with such...but if needed, I would certainly prefer it be safer. No reason to unnecessarily risk his health nor mine.

I no of no single man alive that wouldn't like to zero the meter if the opportunity presented itself - guaranteed stress relief. Government sanctioned and paid-for being an added bonus.

Well I have no proof to this story. But, soneone told me they used to book Steven Harper's and the current Defense Minister of the time's escort appointments. Apparently, the minister liked to be slapped at hit for about $8000 a go and the Prime Minister apparently used to ebjoy...uhhh...apparently being # on for $20,000.
I was told by someone who used to live in Ottawa and who used to book appointments for escort agencies. She talked about about a lot of different clients so I have no reaspn not to believe her. But it's still mostly secondhand gossip. Still I could see him spending that much of taxpayer money for that.

Maybe so, but where there is smoke there is fire. I find it hard to believe that the Captain in question is alone in his beliefs. It may not be the official policy of the Australian military, but unofficial "policies" get practiced all the time. Trust me, I was in the U.S. military in the '80's and unofficial # went on all the time that the U.S. taxpayers would have been pissed about had they known about them.

If they are that concerned about this though, just put saltpeter, or the modern equivalent, in their food. They won't be thinking about sex at that point, just taking care of an enemy the way you should with the firepower that you have. Do your damn job.

That may be the real reason they wan't to implement it as a policy . It may just be another attack on family unity = reduced stress and lots of strife .

As long as they also supply the spouses back home with hot sex workers, I don't see a huge problem.

But I'm pretty sure the soldiers would suddenly drop the issue if that were presented.

They don't have to 'send hookers'. They show up wherever there is a Us base in droves.

Any bar downtown...

In WW2, the Nazis would use that as propaganda to discourage the Allies from fighting. Posters would show white women with Jews or black men with captions like "Wouldn't you rather be keeping your wife faithful".

Using racism and fragile male egos against men who are already scared and angry... pure diabolical genius.
