Astonishing 50 kids a week referred to sex change clinics in the UK

The sheer insanity of this nearly made my eyes bleed.

Telling children that they should be anything OTHER than what they ARE is a cruel lie. Telling a boy he's a girl is a DAMN LIE and you ALL know it. It makes me absolutely sick that some people are so liberal their brains are falling out all over the damned place!!

Do you ever see a male animal rip it's genetalia off and go hang with the females? Do you ever see it inject strange substances into it's body so that it can 'feel' normal? No, it's 100% UNNATURAL. Even trans' people admit their suicide rate is astronomical. Changing your skin (which is what they're doing, you CAN NOT CHANGE YOUR GENDER FULL STOP) will not make a difference to your life inside.

You live with knowing you life is a lie. Everyone who looks at you see's a veneer. It's not you, it's who you 'feel' like. I wanted to be invisible once, didn't piss me off that people could still see me though. Trans' people need to get one thing through their heads, the world doesn't have a problem with you now, stop pushing this weird, abnormal lifestyle onto CHILDREN. It's creepy.

Do you people ever pause to think about ANY absolutes in life, any at all? I doubt it, You don't half make me angry. Give me one, I'll say that again ONE, example of anything OTHER than a mentally ill human trying to change their own gender..... Just one.... Anything............

This is utterly nuts and I think you all know it is, even the people defending this utter absurdity.

I honestly think the next campaign is for us to stop feeding anoerix people because they 'feel too fat'. Maybe we should start talking to Schizophrenics voices? This is just..................

I really doubt these are drop in clinics where kids turn up and come out post op.
its the nhs so they will get psych assessment, counselling all sorts of stuff before they even get any meds.

don't understand why so many people have got their knickers in a twist. If your kid is in need of medical help you take em to see the doc. Simple. Unless you are more interested in you self than your own child's health and wellbeing.

I can't even imagine what goes thru kids minds these days. When we were kids we mused at GI Joes and Barbies lack of genitalia. Same with store mannequins.

"Look, they're 'smooth' down there." This gave us endless belly aches from laughing. At least boys and girls restrooms, locker rooms and clothing still reminded us of gender. And if that didn't work, just look down, or play doctor with the "opposite" sex.

Geez.

Not knocking alternatives, each to their own, consenting adults behind closed doors and all.

No one is telling these children who they are. Children express issues, parents worry, so they send their kid to get a mental eval. The results say if there is a possibility of gender dysphoria or not, but even that isn't the end of the process. The kid still has to go through years of counseling (that could be ended at any time if the kid changes his mind) then hormone blockers (of which effects can be reversed by stop taking them) and then finally surgery when they are old enough.

How about spending less time getting outraged over this and spend more time understanding the process so you don't act like a crazy jumping at your shadow?

chances are the anorexic kid would get a referral to a specialist who helps people overcome such things.

I'm not actually sure that being trans is a mental problem in the way anorexia may be, from what I understand it's more the physical side that needs work because the psyche is fully functioning, but of a different gender.

People are being shamed and convinced by others that they weren't born good enough, and that by adapting to this ideology and victim mentality, they can join a "special group" of people that is PC-protected and now people can't legitimately make fun of them anymore (at the cost of mutilation).

Or someone with epilepsy, they should stop taking the anti-convulsants, and just accept that they will frequently black out and injure themselves for the rest of their lives?

See I thought about that already, and my answer is that basically we are talking about vaginas and penises here. Not about any of that other stuff.

Telling a boy he isn't suppose to have a penis is very wrong and mean. Or telling a girl they were suppose to have a penis, that's very wrong and mean. This is abuse.

There is nothing medically wrong with having a penis or a vagina. This isn't a medical problem.

No. They commit suicide because they don't get support - either from the school, or from their families, or from their communities. I could show you several examples of young people who DID get the support, and show you just how happy and well-adjusted they are. I could also show you many examples of the unfortunate ones who didn't get that support, and they are all too much like the example I showed you.

Apart from the fact no one is doing any of that, you just made it all up. Say a child is in distress about the subject and the parents are unable to help them, wouldn't you rather there support and advice available for the family than be left to suffer?

What you mean is that you don't hold the sort of positions I've referred to, and you are just making a special exception in the case of transgender people, for reasons that you're keeping to yourself.

See, that's where you are the exact opposite of correct. No-one tells (e.g.) a transgender male-assigned child that 'he' shouldn't have a penis. The child is the one saying it. The clinicians' job is to figure out whether the child is absolutely sincere and consistent.

No-one, repeat no-one, is taking children aside and convincing them that they need surgery. The reverse is true - the child's pleas are treated with scepticism until the clinicians are absolutely sure that this is a child with a genuine problem.

I have no idea what you think the screening process for gender reassignment surgery is like (hell, from what I've seen so far, I don't think you know that there is one), but I can assure you that it is so strict that a sizeable proportion of adult candidates are turned down as not satisfying the criteria necessary to convince the various professionals who need to be 'on side'.

Hell, I can't get my kids to clean their rooms without switching off the wifi. God only knows how you persuade them they are in the wrong body if they don't already believe that.

It isn't.

In the most extreme case someone would be offered treatment to delay puberty until they're 18 so they can make a choice once they're an adult. No child is being allowed to change their gender, have surgery or take hormonal treatment.
