I'm going to add

1) Don't start a thread to ask a question, unless you at least looked for an answer and include some of that research in the thread

2) Don't post a video without a brief summary of its contents and some commentary. Don't give me crap like "How can you put this into words? It speaks for itself."

YES! These ones irk me the most. I simply do not understand the type of person who doesn't at the very least, do a cursory Google search on something! It's not as if they have the excuse of not knowing how to use the internet. They are here ffs! I cut slack for the peeps on a mobile device and such, where it can be way more of an effort than it's worth. Appreciate the ones who say that, and include something like "will add more when home".

Ikr! It's like they think their summary of the video is "This video shares my opinion. If you didn't watch the whole thing how dare you post a comment about it!".

Hey, remember that time you and I were in a thread with a guy trying to convince us he had pictures of demons or aliens (can't remember which) trying to pull him into the netherworld or some bs? Saw aliens in tin foil reflections? Hahahahaha.. Good times. I bring it up because even though it was obvious leg-pulling, the dude tried, at least!

3) Do not post teaser threads or tag-along threads. Present all pertinent information in original post. Do not tell users you will present more info if thread gains traction. Do not say, "more to come if/ when/ maybe."

The thing about asking questions.....you have to take things into consideration.

Some brief OPs are legit.
Depending on the forum, the content, and perhaps other factors, it is something allowed.
Some Chit Chat OPs are quite brief.
Some Breaking Alternative OPs may be brief....especially if no details are out.
Some OPs are by new members who may not know the lay of the land yet.

I'm not in favor of brief OPs...I think the better the OP, the better chances of good replies and great debate.
But there may be exceptions.

Brief OPs can be made more legit with effort.

If your thread title is "Why is the sky blue?" and your content is "Well why is it?" then I am alerting Mod Central.

If it's a topic OP wants to ask about, why not do a bit of research and teach ATS about it?

I agree, there are exceptions.

I'm not trying to hate on all of them, especially the exceptions.

It can just get frustrating sometimes, clicking on multiple threads to find nil.

Not having anything amazing to contribute yourself.. Seeing these threads go up. Stay up. Sometimes get pages. Those pages aren't always thanks to anything in the OP either.. A lot is just people bored or interested in a general sense. Hell.. take this thread.. two pages already? lol.

Though, I think some of us are [having fun].

This rant is satirical though.

Plenty are the threads who read the two-three paragraph spiel about making threads.

It's this ignoring of said official notice that gets to me.
