This is what happens when your society gets to social safety conscious that it's not longer affordable to have children. The younger generation, far from respecting, loving and cherishing their elders, hate them and resent them because their are too many of them and they cost too much. The young are being milked for too much in taxes to even be able to live a modest lifestyle because they are being forced to support their elders rather than choosing to do it out of love.

Oh well ... I suppose we can add a new saying to socialism. Not only do you eventually run out of other people's money, but you also eventually run out of other people's kids to support you.

My 90 yr old mother was euthanized last year, with a medication called Resperidone, notice the done at the end?

I made a thread about it if anyone wants to read it. I try to warn everyone about this bad drug and there are thousands of old people euthanized every year with it. It clearly says not to give to dementia patients as the side effect is death. Yet is being prescribed to thousands every year.

I'm against anything being forced. But I support people being permitted to leave this world of their own free will. The trouble is anytime something becomes desirable, someone exploits it. So you're right, the powers that be might try to dress it up, make it appealing, so it's easier to wipe away history or old cultural traits, or easier on the welfare system. Mentally ill people, or otherwise neurotic people, or children, or distraught mothers, or war veterans, or many others in mildly suffering states may choose to depart prematurely. Reality TV would thrive on the stories behind their lives. But it's human nature to exploit. There's a point whereby our desire to protect others from themselves is a infringement on their fundamental rights as individuals.

I know it has scary ramifications. This world has never not been scary. You can lock yourself inside a box and temporarily keep the scary out. It finds a way in. But I'll take libertarianism over progressivism. Progressivism, regarding your departure, is painfully trained on where/when/what/why/who. Human nature is authoritarian I think.

yeah, there`s a reason they are called baby boomers, because there are about a gazillion of them and they can`t stay young forever and they aren`t, they are getting old and with birthrates down there are a lot fewer young people paying taxes and social security to support all the old baby boomers, but the politicians knew this was going to happen and they made no plans to deal with it.
