I do. That's why I said most TV is terrible now. There are still a few gems, but 99% of contemporary programming is drivel.

TV has always been a secondary thing for me anyways. Sitting in one place for too long does not bode well for me, due to having ADHD lol.

Don't buy into the ADHD diagnosis. Everyone is different. Some people need more stimulus or activity than others. And that is NOT a disease. You've been sold a false narrative made to have you take drugs for it.

I've never taken drugs for it. My mother refused to medicate me when I was a kid.

I'll be fifty in december, and I know I feel the same way about many of these things.
Though I hate to say it, they are largely my perception of specifically American culture.

I don't watch tv anymore - if ours goes on, it is because we're watching Netflix. But each time I go back to the states, I am completely overwhelmed and irritated by the tv programs and commercials. I can't watch them. It's all so overblown to bombard your senses !

I can't stand all the superhero action movies that come out of there, nor the food..... things so frigging overdone with different tastes piled on so heavily you can no longer tell them apart- the meat could be squirrel for all you can tell, the veggies could have been rotten. Even dog poop covered with melted cheese, chili powder, bacon, jalapenos, sour cream, onions etc. can pass without notice!

On one hand, I could say I found a place more suited to the kind of life I want - but then, there are different things to complain about. Yesterday I was pissed because I watched a french movie everyone claimed ws excellent, but in between some pornagraphic scenes, the rest was all silent face shots lasting forever and no frigging plot besides "couple meet, have love affair, then break up". I was mad because I wasted a couple of hours wondering when the good part would start. Goddamn it, you can go too far with subtle meaning too, believe it or not.

I actually enjoyed the third "The Planet of the Apes" the day before, i kept marveling at the technological progress we have now, and I found lots of the usual human themes we've alway included , all the way back to Shakespeare, just in another form. So I guess I don't reject all american culture or products!

I will complain about the woman who stayed with us last week, who constantly had her phone in hand, either posting or taking selfies. She spurred everyone else to do the same at a beautiful restaurant terrace, as I was the only one who didn't bring mine and sat at the table of five feeling lonely and beign the only one to appreciate the surroundings. Damn social media.

But then I am thrilled that my daughter calls me on facetime daily and my two year old grandson waves at me and talks to me about whatever new words he learned that day, and blows me kisses! That is awesome!

I was watching some show the other day about life in the early 1800's and thinking geezus, what hell that must have been for most people! But I bet little things meant a lot, the world was heaped in meaning - like a peice of dried up bread meaning "survival".

Seems we humans always have some sort of complaint with life, no matter what the circumstances!

I think we have more complaints now because the potential of humanity has never been grasped as well as it is today.

We all know we have the technology to end human suffering but the people in power want nothing more than to keep their power. ( and not be exposed for being satanic pedofiles)

but here we are.

You're lucky. Today she'd be thrown in jail for noncompliance to medicate you.

Is that actually a law in some parts of the world? Here in Canada, parents have a choice whether or not to medicate a child if it's a non-life-threatening 'disorder' like ADHD.

The United States has fined or jailed parents who don't follow doctors advice in vaccines and medication. My daughter was mandated by the courts to take medication. The US is a prison nation. Freedom in the US has died. Be glad Canada has not been taken over by Big Pharma yet.

I turn 49 on November 5th and on the day before I am competing in my first body building competition. With that said, I feel like I've gone backwards in a way... I was very cynical years ago and little by little I pulled myself above all of the BS the OP brought up. I don't allow myself to get sucked into the drama of others or of world events where I have no control. I don't worry about money because the greatest things on Earth and in life are free. I stopped trying to figure out what my purpose here was and as soon as I did, I found my path. Every day I wake up all excited about what the day could bring... what doors will be opened, what opportunities will come up? What you put out in the universe comes back to ya!

It's inevitable that it will happen at some point, I suppose. When I attended elementary school in the '90s, the teachers were actively pressuring my parents to have me dosed. I hate to imagine how much worse that is two decades later, and how many more parents are willing to oblige.

I totally agree on all points! (and that's not often in a thread here)

Also i got tired of the political posts & other nonsense & am way too busy to get involved in threads like i used to.

You may make that Point 6: Why is it that when you are young you think that old peeps have an easy life, like they have all day to read the paper? That is simply not true. Being 53 and not even having time to read the paper (or most of these threads) i am more busy than ever, i'm lucky if i get to sleep 7 hours a night!!

Cellphones. I loved the old days when you were not at home and nobody could reach you. If you were quite wealthy you would hav a cassette tape answering machine LOL But it was just great, a certain kind of freedom that is now gone forever from our lives. Or if you are smart you just turn the damn thing off now & then....
