Obama isn't the first nor the last president who will allow us to be spied on or make it easier to do. The partisan spin around here lately is ridiculous, both sides are the problem yet this place seems to believe it's only one and not the other.

I doubt Trump will close the door on something that allows him to spy on citizens. I have never seen a current administration undo something that expanded the power of the previous one.....once that door is open the next one in ain't closing it.

Whatever trump does to expand the power of the executive branch I'm sure the next person in isn't gonna close the doors he opened.......................that is if there is a next person who knows in these crazy times.

Perhaps my history is fuzzy but if the Nazis developed out of the left then why would they round up socialist and communist the very definition of leftist?
Maybe it's better to say that Nazism is an authoritarian ideology unique to Germany instead of trying to compare it to current politics.

They had to spy on Trump and all of his acquaintances because,... Russia. Once Trump let the tweet that rang round the world out, Obama wiretapped me, then it was prove it. Once there was proof it changes to "it happens all the time" Nothing to see here. Its been the same for the last 8 years. Tarmac meetings between the DOJ and Bill Clinton? Russia uranium deals whilst Hillary is at the helm. Hell even the DNC has proven its disdain for the voting American democrat by colluding with the Clinton team to railroad a mildly popular socialist off the democratic ticket. Ohh wait, Russia, or so says the private DNC hired firm. One Good thing about having the GOP in power is that the press will do its job to get to the bottom of things. Even when they have looked for a year and still have no proof. If Trump sneezes too loud at an eight year old girls funeral, we will know about it.

The collusion bs by Democrats was to justify spying on Americans / trump campaign / elections in order to win.. When they lost they were in trouble and went into panic mode, which is what we have been seeing.

Just my opinion here but I have a few thoughts on that subject. Nazism, socialism, communism are all very closely related political ideals. Similar goals with slightly different approaches. The Nazi's did arrest all those other groups, not because of differing viewpoints but because of leadership. Those groups had their own popular leaders. Allowing them to proliferate would have split the power base. They would have had competition, not so much on their ideals and goals but a competition with other popular leaders. Just my opinion. No way to prove or disprove it. What you are saying is true but perhaps not for the reason you think.

I would say that they were similar in the fact that they were authoritarian Stalinist communism was left wing authoritarianism and Nazism was right wing authoritarianism.

The Nazi ideology was a mix of extreme German nationality mixed with the idea of Aryan racial supremacy and an idea of strength through military dominance. I think it was an ideology unique to it's time and location. The closest thing we have to it today is people who are part of groups like the aryan nation and other self identified nazi orginizations.

.............and if you want to get into conspiracy land whatever decedents of the 3rd reich that are living in south america and through out the world possibly waiting to create a 4th reich. Along with all the project paper clip lads that got slipped in to the military industrial complex.

Some like to look at political ideologies in a linear left/right way. I view them more as circular. Look at the face of a clock. 11 o'clock is closer to 1 o'clock than it is to 6 o'clock. Put the political ideologies on a clock face. Extreme left wing being 11:30 or even 12:00. Extreme right wing is 12:30 or even back to 12:00. Both extremes are coming to 12:00 just from different directions. Liberty, libertarianism or something similar falls closer imo to 6 o'clock. The polar opposite of 12. Anyway, it's an interesting topic but is not really the topic of this thread. I don't want to derail the thread. Perhaps a discussion for another time.

Yes I was furious with that. I stood with liberals that were against that and the nation building wars.

I would think that the liberals would be even more mad, as they voted for a guy that was supposed to be for civil liberties and against this type of action.

But sadly most of those liberals are merely making excuses for Obama, showing their true objection was never to the action, but to the party doing it.

There was something on the news about this last night.
Supposed a JUDGE declared in court that the activities of the Obama administration were illegal, then the documents and court records were classified.
This is supposedly a huge deal now that it has been exposed.

I'll see if I can find a source for that.

I am I voted for him way back in the day and was just as disappointed to find he is a warmonger like the rest of them.

All his talk of transparency was snake oil getting the noble peace prize when he was responsible for so many drone strikes.

I will never trust any presidential candidate again maybe I should thank him for reinforcing my cynical instincts.


This might piss people of but I see Trump as using the Obama Playbook except for the conservative side of the country promising his version of hope and change through his slogan of Make America Great Again praying on rights dismay of eight years of Obama just as Obama prayed on peoples dismay of eight years of Bush.
