You cannot beat people into submission. Perhaps in the short term but not over time. The resentment and fear and anger fester into what we are seeing.


Look at the massive resurgence in 'white supremacy/rage' in the last decade. We beat them into submission during WWII but they're back with a vengeance.

It was dry food. I put it all in a metal garbage can with a lid and carried it 40 miles to a near by national forest. I would leave the forest and look for a job during the day and sleep on the ground on a tarp at night. Remember i said i had a home before this happened so I was able to also take hygiene stuff with me to the forest, tooth brush , soap, clothing that I washed in the river. I finally got a job by lying about my address. Sometimes it would rain so I would sleep under the tarp in a puddle. I know for a fact without that food I had saved I would have died. It wouldn't be the only time I have had to do something like this. I have had an interesting life.

I agree with OP, it's been really sad watching what's happened to ATS over the last few years, as it's become an echo chamber for the Alt-Right. And they're always crying about something. Like that idiot who within 24 hours of Manchester posted about how it was all the fault of the liberal left.

It's from 2003, but if a country was inbred then I'm pretty sure it still is today. I don't support Christianity much these days either, but it's not a part of the historical record for Jesus to have waged war, tortured people and married a 9 year old either. It's not a nice religion not nice to unbelievers, to women and children.

What the west is doing now isn't working.

Terrorists are still bombing and people are reacting to it as "the new normal".

That is untenable, at least it is to me.

I'm always open to different solutions to eliminate the problem. So many simply don't want a solution to make the terrorists angry.

You criticize those of us that are even willing to talk about different solutions but are silent towards those that are afraid of making the terrorists angry.

Appeasement isn't working.
More laws placed on the innocent population isn't working.

Placing blame on the west for the actions in the Middle East is all well and good, but unless you've got a time machine in your pocket, that avenue to a solution is pointless.

Call us names and clutch your pearls if that's what makes you feel better.

But I'm pissed off and will look at any and all solutions to the problem we're all facing.

As time goes by the more frequently I find myself name dropping Idiocracy on these forums too. I remember when the movie dropped I thought to myself, well...I could see this happen in 500 years but in recent years people have really accelerated the crazy. ATS has changed and the sound of trumpets is really loud in here. It's kind of like watching a cult, but then again I watch documentaries on scientology all the time, reading some of the things posted in here has become a similar hobby. It's a shame because this has always been in my top5 list of websites visited, but nowadays I feel like I hardly have anything in common with the majority of the posters on here.
