Title of Article:

Russian lawyer involved in corruption investigation 'critically' wounded after fall from apartment

Nikolai Gorokhov, a Russian lawyer fell from a 5-story building 1 day before he was supposed to appear in court regarding an alleged $230 million fraud involving Russian officials. This is the 2nd casualty from this unraveling fraud case (will discuss that in a minute).

Not sure about the source - this story was originally shared on a website by Bill Browder, a financier and Sergei Magnitsky's boss.

This is all tied to the recent talks of "souring" U.S.-Russian relations.

The story from Bill Browder's website does not explain why they believe this lawyer was "thrown" off the 5th floor.

The lawyer for the family of a Russian attorney, who died following a corruption investigation, has been hospitalized in "critical" condition after falling from the fifth floor of an apartment building in Moscow, associates said.

Nikolai Gorokhov fell from a window on Tuesday, a day before he was supposed to represent the mother of Sergei Magnitsky, whose death has been a focal point in souring U.S.-Russian relations.

Magnitsky said he had uncovered a $230 million fraud scheme by Russian government officials, but was imprisoned and convicted posthumously after being accused of the same fraud.

Gorokhov, 53, was set to appear in court on Wednesday in continued court proceedings into the matter, but was “thrown from the top floor of his apartment building” and suffered severe head injuries...

Kicking up dirt to uncover a $230 million fraud involving the Russian government could certainly have pissed off the wrong people. But was this just an accident, or was it a hit?

Now we have 1 dead lawyer, and the dead lawyer's lawyer is now in "critical condition" after falling from a 5-story building. Doesn't sound like a string of accidents to me.

A representative of Browder’s Hermitage Capital later told independent newspaper Novaya Gazeta that Gorokhov and workers had been trying to raise a bathtub to the fifth floor when a winch broke.

Beyond advocating for Magnitsky’s family, Gorokhov is also a key witness in U.S. prosecutors' case against Prevezon Holdings, according to Browder.

Prevezon is a Cyprus-based company allegedly used to store money from the $230 million Russian fraud scheme in Manhattan real estate.

A 3rd Death Connected to Investigation, or something else?

Flatbush71 also pointed out (below) that there was a hit in broad daylight in Ukraine that could also potentially be connected:

Interesting.
How does CNN think Trump arranged it?

Trump asked Putin to "employ" his old KGB friends to "take care of some things" via a direct message on twitter.

I use to give Putin the benefit of the doubt and always felt we should have a better relation with Russia, but lately things are looking more and more sinister. My sister teaches at a university and knows a women who lived in Russia and immigrated to the U.S.. She has spoken many times to my sister about how Putin shouldn't be trusted.

Earlier reports say the shooter was under arrest. It will be interesting to see if this guy exposes who ordered the hit.
If all evidence points to Putin, how can the U.S. have any kind of relation with a leader who runs his government like the mafia?

Well the lawyer who fell from 5-stories likely won't be talking anytime soon since he is in intensive care :/ we may never find out what's really going on..
