USAF wants UAV's asap

With there success in Iraq and Afghan the Air Force wants more Unmanned armed planes.

AF wants more UAV's

The Predator is armed with 2 hellfire missiles and does very well, so the AF is taking money ($161 million) out of their maintainence budget to buy 15 more Predator MQ-1, and 140 more hellfire missiles, and more fuel and integration of the Viper Strike munition. The Viper Strike munition isn't as powerfull as the Hellfire (II), so its better suited for smaller targets in an urban environment.

Do you know if there going to be fielding the predator B in Afganistan soon?
It has a much higher service ceiling and I believe it can be equiped with 10 hellfire missiles.

We definitely need more of these! Did you see how it helped catch those terrorists in Iraq after they launched a rocket at the green zone? I hope we can have these circling Baghdad and other areas so when anything happens we can hunt down the terrorists with one of these babies!

Predator "B" Hunter-Killer is being evaluated for ISR & combat funtions at Indian Springs Aux. Air Force Base (and a couple of other locations).

It should probably see deployment sometimes towards the end of 2005 or early '06. Service Ceiling is conservatively rated at 45,000 ft.

I don't work on any plane, I work on avionics for UAV's.
