Just adding this here:
There’s a Strong Case for a Special Prosecutor to Investigate Trump’s Russia Ties

As I said before, I don't care about Trump's 2005 tax returns. I'm not concerned with whether or not he paid taxes or what his tax rate is, or even if he's as wealthy as he claims to be.

Trump promised to release his recent tax returns and then reneged. I did sign the petition asking him to release his tax returns, because I want to the experts to examine them for possible Russian ties, or any foreign financial ties that might compromise his ability to govern.

It's not important for me to see them, because I couldn't understand them anyway. I'd need an expert to explain them to me. But I would like the expert to see them and convey their finding to the public.

I didn't watch the Racheal Maddow show, don't watch the Racheal Maddow Show, but will occasionally watch a linked clip/segment from her show. In most cases, she does her homework.

If your position is now that you do want to see them, and are only interested in the tax returns being included in the current investigation, then I agree.

However that marks a shift on your behalf, a welcome one, as you said:

Lets actually compare the year in question, 2015, not cherry pick one of Trump's tax returns from 12 years ago, 2005, because it fits a narrative.

Let's see Trump's 2015 tax return and then compare.

We want to see his recent tax returns to determine where he gets his money and who he owes, to determine if he's capable of working for the American people, or if his policies are motivated by his own profit and to pay his debts.

It's the recent tax returns that we're waiting for him to release.

This is just from the last few pages of this thread, but I could quote at least 20 pages worth of quotes from you demanding to see his tax returns over the course of the last few months.

I am glad you are finally seeing that is not useful and the questions you have can be covered by the experts.

My position hasn't changed. I want Trump to release his tax returns, like he promised. Sometimes I express that as "Let's see those tax returns!" or, "I want to see those tax returns".

I would look at them, but I would still need an expert to explain them to me.

Understand now?

Not really. I can see the need for his taxes to be reviewed as part of the investigation, but you have no right to see them.

I don't find that a strong case. It's based on the following: Putin seemed to prefer Trump over Clinton, Trump didn't condemn Putin (esp. when Democrats said he should have), unsubstantiated press reports, and all of the aforementioned is padded with the argument that Comey/the FBI are not impartial because of the announcement about Hillary 11 days before the election.

I don't see anything there that would justify a special prosecutor, let alone subpoenaing Trump's tax returns.

Actually, I recall that the 2008 Obama campaign accepted illegal donations from the Gaza Strip. No huge leaps of foreign subterfuge were made....or if they were, they certainly didn't result in any significant consequences for Obama.

Personally, I think the speculated Trump/Russia financial ties are more tenuous than that.

I don't care if you don't understand why I think Trump should release his taxes, like he promised, like all presidential candidates in modern times have done, in the name of transparency.

The Intelligence Community has concluded that Russia actively interfered in the U.S. election.

There are substantial allegations concerning the possible involvement of Americans in these Russian activities during the election campaign.

There is evidence of collusion between the Trump administration and Russia concerning U.S. sanctions against Russia for its interference in the election.

President Trump’s actions have raised substantial suspicions concerning his potential ties to Russia.

All based on what I said above: "Putin seemed to prefer Trump over Clinton, Trump didn't condemn Putin (esp. when Democrats said he should have), unsubstantiated press reports, and all of the aforementioned is padded with the argument that Comey/the FBI are not impartial because of the announcement about Hillary 11 days before the election. "

Sorry. It's just not enough for me.

Keep in mind though that my apathy is a product of having been eaten by my own party, Democrats. I don't think you are unjustified in asking. But I also didn't think it was unjustified to ask for Obama's birth certificate. There was compelling reason to ask for it, like this 2004 article: Kenyan-Born Obama all set for US Senate

But, nooooooo, Obamacrats not only coddled Obama on this issue, they and the media (and Obama) had a free-for-all in mocking and shaming people who wanted verification of his place of birth.

It makes me not really care about your reasonable request after how ugly that was.

Sorry. I am apathetic to your cause. Why should your request be taken seriously when mine wasn't...and so many other people's legitimate gripes aren't taken seriously?

This is a bed that I think Democrats made and will need to lie in. It will do you guys good. Some humble pie might be just the medicine you need to not be so smug.

Are you now switching back to wanting to see them yourself? Can't keep up with your shifting position.

The bottom line is you have no legal right to see them and if by releasing them publicly we are going to be subjected to the same type of sh*** show that Racheal Maddow put on, then I can fully understand why your need for 'transparency' would be correctly interpreted as nothing more than asking for a stick to beat someone with.

Perhaps you should start by being transparent yourself and admitting why you really want to peruse his tax returns, whilst admitting you wouldn't know what to look for.

Nothing to do with collusion or with Trump.
By the way the Brits actively interfered in the US election too. They ran as much propaganda as RT did.

There are substantial allegations concerning the possible involvement of Americans in these Russian activities during the election campaign.

What is a 'substantial allegation"? Is it like constant accusations every day from liberals?

There is evidence of collusion between the Trump administration and Russia concerning U.S. sanctions against Russia for its interference in the election.

No there isn't. There is evidence that Flynn spoke about sanctions, briefly to the Russian Ambassador, breaking no law, except for potentially the Logan Act which he won't be indicted for, as no on else has been for decades or will ever likely to be in the future.
The bigger story here is who leaked the transcripts.

President Trump’s actions have raised substantial suspicions concerning his potential ties to Russia.

Yes amongst his enemies. There is no actual evidence of any wrong doing.

You have absolutely nothing resembling any proof of any collusion between Russia and Trump, yet you persist in pushing smears and propaganda.

We, the American people, myself included, want Trump to release his tax returns to the public.

I want to have the ability to look at them. I'm happy to have a professional explain them to me! My stance hasn't changed. That's always been my stance. I don't care about Racheal Maddow's tax expose. I don't care about Trump's 2005 tax returns.

If Trump refuses to release his tax returns, then I hope an investigative committee subpoenas them. In that case, as they are not legally available to the public, I would be fine with the committee's assessment.

Actually they don't. Firstly, this has not reached any judicial stage as yet.
Secondly, the people involved in the investigation actually agree with me.

You have no proof of any wrong doing.

No, the American people put Trump into the Oval Office, so they did not see it as important enough not to vote for him. Simple facts are always the best.
Some American people care, primarily because they are clutching at straws and still can't accept the election result.... just like Maddow, the crazed, frothing at the mouth, conspiracy theorist.

He was raised in Kenya, by a livid marxist, as a muslim.  He was indoctrinated into the Quran as a child.  And like the counselors and therapist all tell us, we learn everything we will ever know  by 5 years of age. His birth certificate was irrelevant.

Just like Trumps returns.. the BC made little difference after the election.. and then reelection. You have to choose what battles are more important... not necessarily the most shocking. While people were speculating over a BC that was never going to be resolved.. so many other things happened that COULD have been opposed. Same with Trump. Ok.. he is elected. Now triage your battles.

BTW his dad wasnt a marxist.. he was a anti-colonialist.

No, that's what Trump and Kellyanne said AFTER he was in office, when Trump decided to renege on his promise to the American people, to release his tax returns. They lied again. Most Americans want Trump to release his tax returns, as he promised during the campaign.

Obama’s father was a socialist economist for the Kenyan Government.
In Obama’s own biography, he says his main mentor from age 8 to 18 was Frank Marshall Davis, a card-carrying Communist Party leader (Party #47544) who hated everything America stood for.
