Half of the country might be celebrating Donald Trump's victory, but others are talking about seceding from the United States.

Are they being sore losers or opportunists? For some people in California, and other western states that went blue for Hillary Clinton, the road forward is clear: Cut their losses and make a go of it without the rest of the country

www.usatoday.com...

Well that didn't take long. Some Californians are calling for secession on twitter.

I wonder how that's going to pan out. California why so salty?

In all seriousness though, don't they realize that if California left the union there wouldn't be a snowballs chance in hell that the US would ever swing Democrat again?

P.S. congratulations to Donald Trump for pulling out a victory against all odds.

And thanks to all the hillary supporters on this site that have graciously accepted defeat. We need unity guys.

really serious discussion lol

If cali goes make sure they take their crushing debt with them, the savings to the fed in entitlements would be huge

And yet is it not true that Texas is the only state in the union with noted ability to actually secede?

Not one for sounding like a parrot, but California is about as remote as one can be when it comes to reality.

Random people on Twitter doesn't represent the general populous of California.

While I loathe that Trump won I am certainly not calling for secession or telling people i'm leaving the country.

Let us remember this the next time Texans get ornery & holler the same secession line.

At best, nothing will come of this. It's been tried and tried again, and it's not remotely easy to make happen.

I know right. I'm kinda surprised usatoday even picked this one up.

It's not even in the top 20 trending.

States pretty frequently talk about seceding, but not much ever comes to fruition. Wouldn't they be giving up all Federal support?

And how does it work in terms of military? Would California just have the California Army Reserves?

This is a complicated issue when you actually consider what would need to be done to officially secede.

I was telling people last night Cali or Oregon would start threatening secession.

What's worse is that many major cities will also talk this way (large percentages of their population, not everyone of course).

There will be riots, flash mobs, increased individualized crimes like armed robbery, etc - in retaliation for this election.
Mark my words.

The truth is that while only 33% of Californians voted for Trump, from a land perspective Trump counties make up more than 50% of California. This calexit talk is just BS.

Is it because we are all dropping acid all day every day here? Rumors are true.

No need for cessation, aren't they all moving to Canada?

Uh oh, oh, oh, Canada!

Hmm.

That'd pretty much guarantee a Republican dominant-party state.

Not an attractive prospect really in the grand scheme of things.

Hell, a few towns in my county could not even secede and switch counties, an entire state is not going anywhere.

Put your panic pants away.

The savings would be next to nothing compared to how food and everything else we get from Cali shoot up in price.

I know. Just popped in my news feed and thought I'd share. Nothing against Californians.

I've never wanted to go there more.

Look at us now...More divided than ever. With a president who isn't going to abolish the federal reserve. This sounds awfully a lot like the MO of a particular banking family. Divide and conquer. Hint Hint.

Well, if you're admitting, and not sharing....

Yes, I did live in California for a time. San Francisco in the lat'e' 90's was amazing.

However, it was the general mindset of the people mixed into a birdbath glass with earthquakes that prompted my move.

"The moon is made out of Purple Celery!!!"

Praise them for being unique, for voicing their thoughts....and you're loved.

Merely ask "Well, alright then...why is it that you believe that?"

And you are considered offensive and combative.

Just about as removed from reality as one could imagine.
