Hot air balloon in the far distance. The "wobbling" is due to the distance.

I would doubt very much it was a Hot Air Balloon.

Night flights are very rare. Also Civil Aviation Authority Regulations state that to fly after dark they have to have both navigation lights and instruments. Also visibility is a major issue.

Insurance companies seldom give cover for night flights.

You ignore the police statement that the anomalous object was invisible to ordinary sight and could be seen only with an infrared camera:
"The pilot could not see it in the daylight, only through the infrared camera. "
Perhaps you can explain how a hot air balloon only became visible when viewed with an infrared camera, but I doubt it.

St Athan has an RAF and MoD base there. It is also not the first time St Athan gets a ufo helicopter chase either.

Coincidence? I would like to say it is our area 51, but it is more like our area 2 and a bit.

Bristol has a large M.O.D site in North Bristol. A colleague claimed that she saw a U.F.O above the site whilst she was dropping her child off to school one morning. Her Mum who is also a colleague confirmed that she also saw it, but didn't want her daughter talking about it, just in case people thought she was nuts and the school might report her to social services, lol.

Well...

I have no idea what the hell that is, but it appears, from some of the footage at least, to be a vertically oriented tauroid of some sort, although that could be an artefact of the way the images were shot.

Lanterns... Bane of my bloody existence some years back.

However, they are not known for moving against the wind.

That's my home City, what is going on?

Just one question, if they couldn't see it with the naked eye, how did they know there was something there in the first place?

Asking the public for suggestions, yeah that sounds like plod alright.

I hesitate to point out to a fellow South Walian that St Athan's is not a city

I live in Bristol, the object was spotted over Brstol.

If it was invisible to the naked eye that throws out the lantern explanation though.

Well looks like there was some hot-air ballooning going on around that area the 17th:
Ballooning

The lack of normal visualization may be because of distance? Just guessing….

There are hotair ballons almost everyday in and around bristol. We are also home to camaron ballons. However i find it hard to belive they wouldnt be aware of a hotair ballon.

Can you screenshot where you think it was in the area?
York and the Netherlands aren't near Bristol, unless I'm missing something.

Yes they would know a HAB, also do you know if they are permitted to fly at 930PM in the dark? That's when the footage was taken.

Never seen a HAB over Brisol at night, but if they were allowed they would need to use navigational lights.

No, in order to look like that photo, the film would have to have been shot from underneath the object -

- the video is taken from the air looking straight toward the object, so we are seeing it from the side...

Also, as pointed out before, balloons don't fly into the wind and would be visible to the naked eye.

I dont know for sure. I have never seen or heard of them flying at night. The only night time HAB i have seen are at the ballon fiesta night glow. However they are all anchored to the ground and never take off. With bristol airport and cardiff airport so close + the police helicoptors flying around i doubt they would be allowed.

They filmed it for 7 minutes..... but what happned next? Where did it go? What did it do?

Well Wales has a history of UFO sightings, plus some parts of Wales are just plain weird! All those mystical things going on.

And you live there you say...
