A powerful encomium about the poor little boy who drowned trying to reach safe land...

A powerful piece highlighting the detrimental policies of government's foreign and domestic...

A powerful song, poetry of the highest order...
& whether you agree politically or not...

It's hard not to shed a tear to this composition.

The lyrics for those who cannot view videos.

[Intro]
His young life was as delicate as the wing of a butterfly

And as fragile as a spider's web

For him we cry

Because when he dies

We all do

[Verse 1]
Did Ahmed not deserve a life?

Ahmed never hurt a fly

Ahmed never knew the politicians
He was murdered by

Certain times
Ahmed wished that he could be a bird and fly

Beyond the sky

Escape the curse of birth that he was burdened by

Ahmed never grew to let your racism internalise

Water poured from every pore in his corpse
While the nurses cried

Ahmed was a beautiful person like you or I

But are we?..

Ahmed could have been a doctor
Lawyer or an engineer

Could have been a superstar but his life ended here

Guess he was a shooting star
Burn bright and disappear

To some
He seems to represent a menace in this hemisphere

Let me here
Make the very essence of this message clear

He was precious, many die like him every year

Ahmed was a victim of resentment and relentless fear

Now his soul surfs the waves
I wish we could have kept him here

[Hook]
The sea, the sea, the sea, it holds our secrets (holds our secrets)

The sea, the sea, the sea, it holds his soul (holds his soul)

They call him Ahmed

The sea, the sea, the sea, it holds our secrets (holds our secrets)

The sea, the sea, the sea, it holds his soul (holds his soul)

They call him Ahmed

[Verse 2]
Ahmed's ancestors
Introduced to Europe Greek philosophy

Brought with them irrigation
Mathematics and astronomy

Symbolically, irony of this horror isn't lost on me

Trying to get to Europe via Greece
Where he was lost at sea

Ahmed not Achmed, it's Ahmed

He's that dead

Toddler lying lifeless on the beach with his back bent

Arms spread
Reaching the direction that his dad went

If he made it here
Would have been bullied for his accent

He was captured by the ocean

Paralysed and frozen

While these parasites, sat and typed
Analysing clothing

Now for resources we all compete
Beyond the talk of war and peace

And talk of porous border
There is corpses on the shore of Greece

They found a teddy next to where his body was found

The sea swallowed him
Politics has swallowed him now

And those responsible
Ahmed's ghost will follow them now

To the family
All we can say is we are sorry he drowned

Because...

[Bridge]
They say let him drown, let him drown, let him drown
What have you done, don't let him drown, don't let him drown

No what have we become, don't let him drown

No, don't let him drown

And they say
... Let him drown, let him drown, let him drown

What have we done, don't let him drown, don't let him drown

No, what have we become, don't let him drown

Please, don't let him drown

[Verse 3]
Ahmed could of been you, and Ahmed could of been me

We need to understand the policies that put him in the sea

We need to understand why it is the beach is full of dying kids

A colonial Metropole people want to reside in

If he did, would he make it or fall to something that's deeper

End up like like Jimmy Mubenga... or Khaled Abu Zarifa

A picture by Javier Bauluz on the beaches of Tarifa

Made me see, some would grieve more if Ahmed was a creature

With four legs, then they would consider him legitimate

Those like him braving barbed wire burning off their finger tips

Balfours alien act, that mentality still exists

Is privilege the difference between an ex-pat and an immigrant?

For, Ama Sumani and Osman Rasul Mohamed
When you take others humanity
... It's only yours that's stunted
Not a swarm
... They're our sisters and brothers, that's the sum of it!

The cockroaches here are in the media and the government

Not the sea

[Hook]
The sea, the sea, it holds our secrets (holds our secrets)

The sea, the sea, the sea, it holds his soul (holds his soul)

They call him Ahmed

The sea, the sea, the sea, it holds our secrets (holds our secrets)

The sea, the sea, the sea, it holds his soul (holds his soul)

They call him Ahmed

Ahmed never knew the politicians he was murdered by

Ahmed never knew the politicians he was murdered by

Ahmed never knew the politicians he was murdered by

And they all laugh at him...

Lives don't matter to most Governments in the world, despite what we are told.

Never have, never will.

WWIII will determine the New World Order's destiny. Many lives will be lost, but that doesn't matter.

Until Empathy and Morality and the emotion's that prevent us from harming one another and make us feel the pain other's do become a universal human trait there will always be those for whom No lives matter.

We live in a world ran by politicians whom seem to be the most Ethically deprived and emotionally void being's among us, there only approach to empathy and morality seem's to be sadly based solely on what they think will get them into power or help them to stay in power and sadly this seem's to be a problem that affect's all nation's.

When we make the victimizer identify with there victim and feel for them, when we force empathy upon them and start to teach ethic's as a main subject not a side subject in all our nation's school curriculum's and when the understanding that morality and human dignity are one and the same thing for most people in the world but consider it on a person to person basis rather than an enforced set of law's become's entrenched in there mind's and attitude's.

Then and ONLY Then will all live's matter.

But until them Exploitation, Injustice and Unethical practice will remain constant's in this world.

I see no cure yet but I do see a lot of good intentioned people often being misguided and directed by a small clique with there own agenda's on both side's of this type of utterly inhuman and artificial divide.

Whilst I agree it was very very sad ... It was not just one boy that died lets not

forget that his brother died too.

They did not die due to any government, they died because their 'father' who

was responsible for them, took them from a safe country, 'Turkey' in

an unsafe boat to try and queue jump to get to Canada. I read at the time that

he (the father) was connected somehow to the people trafficers and was steering

the boat.

None of that matters to the limp little body found on the beach. It wasn't his fault.

All life matters equally, not some more than others. To single out any life and hold it more valuable than others is unjust.

Who upon seeing a little boy drowning isn't going to try and rescue him?

No it was the fault of the man who sired him whom he trusted and called 'father'

Who from a safe situation/country put him in an unsafe situation an unseaworthy

boat.

That's exactly what I said .... I alluded to where was the outpouring of grief for

his brother who also drowned and there were others too.... But he is singled out

for propaganda purposes.

Let me be contrite....all living biological life matters.

Now let's see where your money really is!! This crazy radical took a hammer and beat the brains out of a 67 year old female who was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, then slit her throat almost beheading her. She is dead. Does his life matter? Or should this insane bastard be given capital punishment???

I gave you S+F, but would love to see your response and reasoning.

Peace

Thats called desperation. But go ahead and downplay refugees plight. You think they all just get into "unsafe" boats for a pleasure cruise?

They absolve themselves of their own responsibilities by putting themselves or/and

their children in the 'firing line' forcing others to put themselves in danger making a

rescue. The money they pay to the 'people smugglers' could buy themselves

legitimate ways of travelling.

But they dont want to be in the first safe country ... they want the choice

of country .... that is not desperation.

So after putting that all together are you able to explain how and why people get so desperate to follow these channels ?

Surely you know what motivation a person has to risk so much ?

I am a parent and there is NO way I would put a child of mine on something as

unsafe as something not much more than a dingy on the sea when I am standing

firmly on a safe beach in a safe country (Turkey)

yeah pretty much.

They were safe. These people are dead because of their father.

This is all propaganda. It doesnt reach me. When you actually see the missery of life on earth it puts the spin into perspective.

Sentimental blackmail. Wag the dog crap.
