After backlash, Trump was being "sarcastic" when he encouraged Russia to subvert our govt.

After Backlash, Trump Says He Was Just Joking About Russia Hacking Hillary Clinton’s Email.

n a pre-taped Fox and Friends interview Thursday, Trump said his original comments were “sarcastic” and not an actual suggestion.

“Of course I’m being sarcastic,” he told Fox’s Brian Kilmeade.

“And they don’t even know, frankly, if it’s Russia, if it’s China, if it’s someone else. Who knows who it is?”

Was he being sarcastic as he claims?

I think its very possible that he was being absolutely serious.

As it turns out, Trump is very close to the Russians.

Due to his many bankruptcies and defaults, he turned to foreign investors to help maintain his lifestyle.

As fate would have it, the Russians stepped up.

And hes making his intentions clear, saying that as POTUS, he may not support NATO while at the same time ensuring that anti-Russian rhetoric is stripped from the GOP platform.

When the Republican Party releases its platform Monday, the official Republican party position on arms for Ukraine will be at odds with almost all the party’s national security leaders.

Inside Trump’s financial ties to Russia and his unusual flattery of Vladimir Putin.

“Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets,” Trump’s son, Donald Jr., told a real estate conference in 2008, according to an account posted on the website of eTurboNews, a trade publication.

“We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia.”

Would it be fair to say that in a sense, the Russians "own" Trump?

Trump is assembling a team of advisors who have also worked for Putin’s cronies.

Paul Manafort has also worked for the pro-Russian former president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, who was deposed in a popular revolution in 2013.

Trump’s foreign policy advisors also include Carter Page, a former advisor and current shareholder in the state-controlled Russian natural gas giant, Gazprom, who has advocated for a less adversarial US stance toward Moscow.

Donald Trump aide slams America's policy on Russia during speech in Moscow.

In an unusual critique for a man attached to a presumptive nominee for the American presidency, Carter Page said the US and other Western countries unfairly vilified Russia for its problems, including corruption, which he said was just as easily found at home.

And here is Trump's team bad mouthing the United States in the Russian capital.

I'd expect this from Obama or Kerry but Trump?

The Chinese played this all wrong.

All they had to do was give him some money.

Instead of advocating a trade war against China, he'd be telling us how great they are.

Might not matter.

All the Democrat Hillary Campaign talk is about "hacking".

But the server(s) are long ago disconnected.

Desperate over reactions imo.

Voters will decide soon enough.

who cares if it was sarcasm or not. the russians should release whatever they have on hillary, because our own government says it doesnt exist.
i believe its detrimental to the election, what exactly hr(c) was up to.
trump is a businessman, his company is worldwide, and has interests everywhere.

we need co operation with russia, not distance and disdain. they need to be our allies.

hillary screwed with russias elections when putin was going for third term. she tried to get him out of office, now hes doing the same to her. what goes around comes around.

...or he just recognizes that Russia in 2016 is more capitalist and less communist than the United States in 2016. Let's be rational here, every American criticism of modern Russia is one which can be accurately bounced right back to the USA except for one.
-Propaganda spewing, politically controlled media... CHECK
-Aspirations of empire building... CHECK
-Global meddling and threats to get what they want... CHECK
-Human rights violations... CHECK
-Corruption at the highest levels of government... CHECK
-Political adversaries of established parties mysteriously dying... CHECK
-Spies on allies and foes alike... CHECK
-Manipulation of markets and currency... CHECK
-A strong, consistent leader... A-HA! You win this round, Russia...

Honestly, I don't get the Russian hatred anymore. They lost the cold war and proceeded to rebuild Russia in the image of the US over the past 30 years and frankly, they've become better at Americaning than we presently are, so why shouldn't our leadership be friendly to them?

Interesting but I would argue that its deeper than this.

According to Trump Jr., the Russians are heavily invested in Trump.

I think this presents a clear conflict of interest and further calls his ethics into question.

Showing obvious favoritism due to $$$$$.

Trump is a bloviating narcissist with very few brains. Of course he wasn't being sarcastic. That would require him to be able to have rational thoughts.

Most people worked that out when he said it.
Ah, the joy of self-righteous indignation on the part of the media. Easily beats "the joy of sex".

Trump Jr. might have said that.

Maybe get some quotes so people can figure it out.

No need to compare conflicts between Trump and Hillary.

Not joining in the 2-Minute Hate against Emanuel Goldstein is now showing favoritism? You do realize absolutes don't play well in geopolitics, right? There's a lot of peace to be found in between "We declare war on you" and "Let's sign this blood brother treaty of alliance."

OF COURSE he was being sarcastic. Trump is much too subtle for the idiot MSM who a) Don't like him, b) take everything literally. They don't "get" sarcasm unless it's coming from them.

I think he was. He was puking something out that he though his people would like. He was being stupid and unthinking, but he was more or less joking. It's kind of like "joking" about killing the president... or sarcastically saying one has a gun on an airplane... or "joking" with a brand new mother about crib death.

He simply doesn't understand the intricacies of human behavior, much less have the knowledge of how to be a world leader.

Democrats should not be fearful of the leaks. Since they are a party of transparency, there should be nothing to hide and no fear of exposure. Right?

I agree with you that "freedom" in the US is quickly becoming an out dated concept but do you really believe that Trump's pro-Russian bias is simply because they are a "good country" and NOT because they own a "disproportionate cross-section of his assets"?

Okay then. Why is he doing that? Shouldn't he be pandering to the lowest common denominator????

How is that any different from the mainstream comics who are shredding the rhetoric?

Uh, did you just compare a joke about hacking a political party's email server to a joke about a death threat, a terror attack, and the death of someone's infant? Perspective... de nada.

The way i took his comment is that he is insinuating that hillary`s home server was as unsecure as the DNC`s and just as easy to hack,so if the russians hacked the DNC, as some people claim, then they probably hacked hillary`s server too in which case they would have the missing emails.
