Really? Hmm. I'll have to try rye.

What about spiced rum? (Spiced rum, lime and coke takes me back to me teenage years lol)

You would like a Dark and Stormy then.

Ginger beer or syrup, dark rum and lime. Perfect drink if you have a yacht in the Caribbean or aspire to one.

I have a picture somewhere when we had a few people over and we went through a case of ginger beer and two bottles of rum. I didn't even see the cops walking up the porch we were so lit. They go down nice.

edit on 20-5-2016 by AugustusMasonicus because: networkdude has no beer becasue he left it in the ladies room

My mum used to like them when we had barbecues, but she used to put waaaaay to much lime in for me. Didn't do much for her diabetes either lol.

It's all about the ginger beer with those. I use the import brand from the UK when I make them. The ginger is so much more pronounced. Not like the crappy ginger ale we have here.

I agree. I tried ginger beer there. It's crap lol. It's basically slightly flavoured fizzy water.

My mums was all about the rum and lime lol.

You're being polite. I wouldn't drink it if I was dying of thirst.

The only mass produced stuff that has even a remotely strong enough kick is Goya brand ginger beer since the Jamaicans like that stuff too.

I can't remember what it was. Was out of a shop in NE Pennsylvania. To say I was disappointed wouldn't even come close.

While I like many of the old towns in NE PA it isn't exactly a cultural mecca.

Yeah. I can't really say much as the only reason I was there was for a lady lol. Atleast here parents lived in the poconos and she knew where the casino was lol.

Jim Beam makes a rye. Most of the major distilleries have rye offerings, the Beam Distillery is one of them. You would be alright with that.

Another victory for the sophisticated gentlemen. I posted a few rye cocktail recipes in the thread, if those don't interest you I can give you a few more. Also, any of the bourbon recipes I posted can substitute rye, it will make the drink a little spicier instead of sweeter.

Oh cool. I quite like bourbon though. I might try done with rye, just to see what they're like. And it's a good excuse for a drink lol.

I like your philosophy. There are many good excuses for having a drink:
The end of the work day
The beginning of the work day
    Breakfast
    After having a good workout
    Food shopping
    Hanging with your friends
    Sitting by yourself
    Sleeping
    Discussing politics and/or religion

Well, to be fair I would have also recommended and panoply of psychotropic substances.
