I agree on paying off the debt, I was referring to the deficit, a much more realistic goal.

The reason the GOP wants to dump Trump is because he has essentially given the election to Hillary or Bernie

The GOP lost it's chance the moment it turned against its front-runner and split itself in two. Something they are very experienced at (and seems the Dems are getting into it this year too, just like 2008).

Problem is, NONE of the GOP candidates really had much of a shot at beating either Hillary or Bernie, except Trump, and even his chances were slim (and now are just about nil).

Any out of nowhere candidate from a brokered convention, and the GOP is going to see a HUGE backlash, that like the Trump momentum, is going to shock the hell out of them, and if they do it, they will likely cease to be a party by 2020. Not to mention, such a candidate has ZERO chance at winning the general election.

The only thing trump will be able to do is ruin US foreign relations and possibly spark wars like we haven't seen since ww2. He makes a lot of crazy claims that are completely ridiculous and for some reason people believe him even though he is nothing but a snake oil salesman.

I'll agree with the snake oil salesman...but what crazy claims?

Other nations HAVE been taking advantage of us, because we let them. We HAVE made some horrible deals (Iran comes to mind, as well as NAFTA, etc.).

Personally, I think he'd keep us OUT of wars..for one, they are only good business for defense related companies. For another, who the hell is going to attack or war with a crazy person?

You think Bernie or Hillary could make a deal benefiting the US? Do you think Putin would have uneasy nights with either of them in office? Do you think Bernie could even get anyone in Congress to adopt his socialist plans? He'd be a do-nothing lame duck President, while Hillary would simply do as she's paid to do, by her big donors. Trump, on the hand, would be able to act by either bullying or bribing, or threatening. Pretty much what Presidents used to do, lol.

Of course, the establishment has already decided, so it's a moot point anyhow. And, if the election even gets close, they'll simply send the commands to the Diebold machines (like they've already done in some primaries), to flip the script and effect their desired outcome. (they can't do it if it isn't a close election at least, but it likely would be at least close enough.)

The split in the GOP and the ever growing tear down the middle of the DEM party makes a 3rd party run as plausible as it has been in a long time...

I think we need to start looking at those 3rd party candidates - there may some new actors in season 2 of 'The Election'.

His claims on punshing women on abortion. His views on nuclear proliferation. The fact that he said he wouldn't take using nukes off the table. Building a wall across the US Mexico border. The idea is nice but it's not going to stop people from digging or using ropes. Etc

one way would be to actually allow workers with a 401k plan or other retirement plan to buy federal government bonds.

this would keep the interest paid by the federal government in this country.

also workers retirement money would no longer go to the financial sector to move industries out of the USA.

and keep retirement money out of the hands of financial vampires like Romney.

another would be to change the tax code, from income tax to sales tax, therefore collecting taxes on all the products made overseas.

and actual free trade, lowering the insane price of pharmaceutical, sugar, cable networks and other ripoffs bleeding the American economy.

Some good points.

And 401k plans do in fact have government bonds if you want them.

imo, nothing the next president could do is as important as changing our NATO and Middle East policies.

the invasion of Iraq, Libya, Afganistan are the major diplomatic mistake of our age.
it has cost trillions in treasury, killed hundred of thousands and in every case it could be agued, the citizen of those countries were better off before American intervention.

if you add the coup in Ukraine, part of NATO threats against the Russian State, the economic sanctions against many countries, political continuity in the USA is, imo, the worst scenario possible.

Russia and the USA should be allies, our enemies are the same, terrorism from religious radicals.

at a time when the economy of the West is a basket case, the time for economic sanctions is over.

the US congress, is corrupt and totally controlled by special interest groups, eager for economic sanctions, but lacking in wisdom.

moderation if not total abolition of hedge funds and other criminal financial instrument should be the priority of government, not playing cold war politics.

the navies of NATO would be better used in protecting their borders from illegal migration than playing cold war games and regime changes.

these powerful navies are incapable of stopping unarmed smugglers of migrants who will terrorized Europe for generations to come.

we need major changes in international affairs, the past 30 years have been incompetence and stupidity on a biblical scale.
