The arrogant "Church fathers" read about Hermes and said something like 'If only we could have been around him to instruct him.'

But they admired him nonetheless.

I was agreeing with you, just stating it differently.

always easier for people to blame someone else for their deeds and actions instead of owning up and taking responsibility. Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed the Serpent. That old Serpent, the Devil, Satan the adversary didn't care if she blamed him because he is already condemned and awaiting his sentence to be carried out. Until then he will take as many men with him as he can.

Her are the names of five Hermetic books, one even has contributions from early church fathers.

3 volumes translated by G.R.S. Mead.

1. Meads survey of Hermetic literature.

2. Meads translation of the Corpus Hermeticum.

3. Fragments of lost Hermetica from Staubaeus and early church fathers.

In religion its the perfect excuse. The devil is responsible for our failings, so we don't have to change.

what better dodge… Akushi99 said it most eloquently last page.

Personally, I think people are adversarial. its not a devil per se, but peoples attitudes and behavior in disagreement with whats good or the right thing to do. They have learned and adopted a different behavior pattern and justify it by many habitual means.

In that sense thats anti christ like.

The Egyptian sage Thoth is also Hermes. He was known as Mercury to the Romans.

The Caduceus you sometimes see as a medical symbol ( the one with two snakes and wings) is a symbol attributed to Hermes.

The other medical symbol, the official one, is the rod of Asclepius the Greek god of healing (I believe).

The book of Thoth has been an object of mysticism for a long time. The Corpus Hermeticum is probably the closest thing.

So in Egypt you also had Osiris who is Nimrod and that's where it gets interesting. Osiris was killed by Seth. Nimrod was killed by Esau.

In Judaism, coincidently or not, Seth is a great patriarch. Esau not so much.

Osiris was resurrected as Horus.
Nimrod as Tammuz.

The first trinity with Isis/Semiramis.

Christmas is Tammuz birthday and all its customs originate in this myth. Tree, presents, caroling, mistletoe, everything.
