They want it for all welfare recipients, and the reason is because many recipients are bound for the Middle east to join ISIS and somehow keep collecting the money.

Looks like Finland might be getting nervous.

Another problem is people take out big loans before leaving for the lands of ISIS because cash is a status within ISIS.

What's next?? The "Thought Police" !!

Another big government flop.

Finnish Politician Suggests Tracker Implants for Welfare Recipients

A politician from Finland's conservative Finns Party suggested implanting welfare recipients with satellite-tracking chips following news that some recipients continued receiving payments after leaving the country to join ISIL.

A member of Finland's right-wing Finns Party, Pasi Maenranta, has suggested implanting all recipients of government assistance with satellite-tracked chips if they choose to leave the country.

Maenranta made the proposal after Finnish media revealed that some recipients of government assistance continued to receive payments after leaving the country to join ISIL in Syria and Iraq. Maenranta does not believe that the idea raises privacy concerns because of existing tracking technology in services such as Facebook.

How many Finns are Muslim?
Seems a bit extremist, considering this is coming from a Conservative Party, you'd think they would be for smaller less intrusive government. But I don't know the whole Finnland political scene.

I'm sure that just as welfare is here in the states is just a drop in the bucket compared to corporate welfare.

This fool doesn't believe there is a privacy concern because Facebook has tracking capabilities? Wow, Facebook doesn't implant a chip inside aperson to track every movement. Also, by this politician's logic, there would be no need for implants since Facebook already tracks it's users, which would only be known once the person posts on Facebook.

It would make more sense for a government to track everyone and not just welfare recipiants by placing tracking devices in every ID, passport, or credit/debit card. Wait there are already RFID chips in those. Hmmm. He must have a tie to a company that produces these implants in order to propose such a radical idea.

Sounds more like the "Confused" Party

Finns Party

The party combines left-wing economic policies with conservative social values, socio-cultural authoritarianism, and ethnic nationalism. Several researchers have described the party as fiscally centre-left, socially conservative, a "centre-based populist party" or the "most left-wing of the non-socialist parties", whereas other scholars have described them as radically right-wing populist.

Politician not too long ago suggested the same for all prisoners after those two escaped one killed other caught in NY. I believe I have read the recommendation for homeless for their own safety, could be wrong. Just wow.

How many Finns are Muslim?

www.gatestoneinstitute.org...

There are an estimated 60,000 Muslims in Finland, which has a population of just over 5 million. The Muslim population has increased rapidly in recent years, due largely to immigration; and there are now dozens of Islamic communities in the country. As in other European countries, the debate over immigration centers on growing concerns about the failure of Muslim immigrants to integrate into Finland and learn the language.

As native Finns move out of areas with significant immigrant populations, they are reducing the size of the population capable of paying taxes, leaving behind only those consuming welfare services, according to the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper.

But this is an enlightened socialist nation!

Maybe if they want to track their citizens, they should just give them free phones. . . . . wait, what?

A suggestion is a big government flop?

Shoot we just had a Mike Huckabee suggest that 10 year old rape victims shouldn't be able to terminate a pregnancy from it.

What do you call that?

if they got it, I wonder how long it would be before they'd be tracking the whole population....
dependency=servitude......
you can use the welfare recipients as scapegoats all you want, you can demonize them, you can justify the crappy wages that they get, but you are just opening up the door for them to take your freedom from you!

I call your post totally off topic and a knee-jerk herky jerky response.

Like something Clem Kadiddlehopper would say.

If you accept government money that you didn't work for then you should have no rights. No one should simply receive money for breathing. The welfare system doesn't work.

Go Finland!! Make welfare an uncomfortable way to make a living.

Of course you do.

How is it off topic? Both are suggestions made by politicans.

If you feel it is off topic report it.

I'll ask again, what is different about that suggestion and your unwillingness to call it a gov flop.

Oh please.

The government failure lies with the system that created the problem in the first place.

You got the 5 D's on point. I'm sure you could dodge a wrench.

This is a suggestion, a government system is not responsible for the suggestions poeple make. They would be responsible for making them into law.
If this gets put into law then I will call it a big gov flip right with ya.

Government failures create the problems like this one in Finland.

Successful governments wouldn't even have a problem like this welfare/Muslim/ISIS/money connection.

FAIL

Well we could always just create it out of thin air based off of one persons comments too just like this.

It is a horrible suggestion, just fail to see how it is the fault of the gov as whole that one person made it.

And your ability to apply that logic to only a select form of gov.

Their government created the problem, not the guy making the suggestion.

The suggestion is a reaction to the failure.

They created ISIS and the people feeling the need to go join them?
And created the idea of cheating a system to your own advantage?

Holy crap, lets get the Fins!

The suggestion is made by one person, not the gov.
You realize there is a difference right?
