I think the poster you replied to is under the impression that electron spin means electron rotation.

As if electrons were a ping pong ball-like "thing" that can experience classical rotation.

You would be surprised (or maybe you wouldn't be) how hard it is to disabuse some of my students of the same misconception. "spin" is just a quality, like mass, or charge. It is a quality that is akin to what would be there if the particle, as a rotating charged sphere,were to actually rotate. We can thank the good Herr Doktors Stern and Gerlach for this mess, and dear Herr Pauli for making it somewhat useful. It also helps explain why our fingers don't disappear into the keys on our keyboards when we type.
