Has the battle for the Tory leadership started already ?

There are three likely contenders , George Osborne , Boris Johnson and Theresa May.
Osborne's budget last week pleased the Tories which is what I believe it was designed to do , Brownie points for him.

In what on the face of it looks like just a good news story Theresa May has decided water cannon will not be used by the police on our streets ... great ! , must admit I was surprised at the decision given who made it

Look beneath the surface and you see that Boris Johnson already purchased 3 used water cannon from Germany in expectation they would be allowed plus he spent £218,000 to buy them plus costs to repair and refit them .... bit of an embarrassment for Johnson and questions to be answered .... Brownie points for May.

The home secretary has refused to allow the use of water cannon in England and Wales - a year after three of them were bought by the Metropolitan Police.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this but since Cameron said he wouldn't stand for a third term I think some in his party saw that as the starting pistol for a long and hopefully entertaining leadership contest in all but name.

Id rather have rich twats thats are smart and understand simple concepts such as debt than morons with a heart.......though under Blair and brown they were both twats and morons.



As for leadership I despise may with a passion, cant stand boris and think Osbourne is a word that rymes with hunt.

Id rather one of the new Conservatives get it. Break from the eton/cambridge club.
There are a few good MP in the rotton bunch, but the systems rigged against them.

If I had to choose id likely take osbourne. With gritted teeth.

I'm expecting now they have a majority government they will return to the Tories of old , division and infighting.

With the cat out of the bag they all know the top job is up for grabs and being the generous kindhearted people politicians aren't I expect blood on the carpet before the midway point of this parliament.

I'm not sure it's entirely important. There is very little chance, unless there is a major propaganda campaign, that the Tories will win the next election.

The old Tory supporters are slowly dieing of old age and the younger generations are moving towards the newer partys. The same could be said of labour supporters. I predict that the two "traditional" partys will be gone forever in a generation or two.

But they will probably be replaced by the conversion of current opponents in the next generation.
Historically, left-wing politics tends to be an interest of the young, who gradually get more conservative as they grow older.
As Clemenceau said, "If a man is not a socialist at the age of 20, he has no heart. If he remains a socialist at the age of 30, he has no brains". (I've seen it attributed to Churchill, talking about Liberalism, but I suspect he borrowed it from Clemenceau).

Never mind blood on the carpet, with some of the overtly totalitarian measures concerning our internet capability's and the data encryption policies that Cameron would have us implement i would not be surprised if we see revolution before the midway point of this parliament.

Is there anyone in the Tory Party I would like to see as Prime Minister? I can't think of one.
